(16) Dangers

I had a really great time with Jack, and some silly stupid part of my brain wanted me to kiss him again.
I smack my head.
No

No
Noooooooooooo!
I can't have feelings for him, I can't, something could happen to him, and if something does, it would have been my fault.
My fault
Stupid
Stupid
My mind puts those words on repeat.
As I read my book, I find my myself reading the same sentience over again, and again.
I close my book in frustration, and burry myself under my covers.

Then I close my eyes and force myself to sleep.

bang bang bang.

I jump to my feet, startled by the noise on my door.
I look at my watch on my counter.
3:00
Seriously why is someone at my door at 3:00 at night?
I open my door.
"You better have a good explanation for..."
I stop mid sentence, to see a distressed, and crying Jack.
Jack, CRYING!
"Wa...what happened?" I ask nervously.
"They...they're...they."
I stare at him with cautiously.

He walks into my living room and sits on my couch.
"They...they know!" He blurts.
"Who! Who knows, what?!"

He strangles me in a hug, then tucks a tiny piece of hair behind my ear.
"I won't let anything happen to you, I promise." He says.
"JACK! WHATS GOING ON?"
"They know, Rue, your family, THE EVIL ONES. They just attacked a nearby hidden temple location.

I stare at him wide eyed, stiff, shocked, unable to move.
Their out there, and they've made their first move.

(Jacks point of view)

I got called to mistresses office, earlier, and she told me.

As soon as the words left her lips, I ran, and the wind carried me to Rue's temple.
I had to tell her quick, fast, I panicked.

"Listen Rue, they attacked a village near here.
They killed one Lith, hurt others.
She looks at me, not blinking, not moving, she's in shock
Then she's speak.
"I have to do something."
"No, no, you can't, don't, you don't even know them.

(Rue's point of view)

I feel like I'm in one of those movies, where a light bulb appears over their heads, I can't help myself from saying,
"Light bulb."
"What?" He asks.
"Never mind, do you happen to know someone who knows the art of soul by any chance?"
"Ya, I do but...oh no no no no no,"
"JACK!" I say shaking his shoulders back and forth.
"Listen!"
"No you listen to me! I can't let you..."
I smack him on his face.

"No, your listening to me, these people won't stop until they find me, their kill everything in their path, even if we can't beat them to it, at least I'll be prepared, so will you.
Would you rather me get captured, and not be able to protect myself? Or do you want me to get beat up?"
That must've caught his attention, but he still stares at me, scared an nervous, not blinking.
So I do the thing I'm afraid of doing, something I shouldn't do, but have to.
Fast, I lean in, and kiss him, he jumps slightly, startled by my sudden kiss, but he kisses me back, and holds the back of my neck tightly.

I pull away quickly.

That convinced him.

I jump to my feet, dragging Jack with me.
I lean on the door, and he steps closer to me.
"Please?" I whisper.
He sighs.
"Follow me."
We leave the temple, and I take one last nervous glance at Jack, before wind carries us away.

Hi! I'm sorry for this short chapter, and for the sudden switching of the point of views.
I'm deciding if I should make the rest of the chapters as long as this one, and not as long as my usual ones.
