(Rue)
"Hey, How you doing?" Jack says coming up behind me and kissing my cheek.
"Good, good, you?"
He smiles.
"Never been better."

It's been a year since the war we won, a year since Hutton has died.
So here we all are, stuffed into the centre of the hidden temples, celebrating Hutton.

Yes, he got his own day named after him.

"Where's Ivory and Jason?" I ask him.
"Right here," Jason says.
I turn and see both of them walking up to me.
"And I'm here."
Sialems voice appears in the air beside me, and I smile at him warmly.
"Hey,"
"Hi, I brought sweets," he says excitedly, opening the cardboard box in his hands.

Jason bounces up and down on his feet.
"Go ahead," Sialem tells Jason.
He passes the box to him, and turns to me.
"How are you?"
"I'm good, you?"
"Great, I was just going to drop that off and go," he says.
I frown.
"Stay longer, you'll be all alone in your room."
"Ya buddy," Jack says.
"Hey! It's Jacky! Okay I'll stay longer."
Jack laughs.
"Perfect."
He kisses me on the head, and heads off into the crowd.
"So you and Jack are...?"
"Yeah, he asked me out when I got out from the hospital after the war. Which reminds me that I haven't seen you for so long."
"Yeah, well, don't tell anyone, but the mistress has been sending me into the human cities to find other liths."
My eyes widen.
"Really? That's great."
He laughs.
"Yeah, it's really fun."
"That's good," I tell him.

Jack comes back, and wraps an arm around my waist.
"They're about to say speeches now, the mistresses speeches are extremity long, so be prepared."
I laugh.
"I bet."

I tear my eyes away from Jack, and look into the crowd of happy people.
I smile.
"Hey Jack?"
"Yeah?"
"I love you."
He smiles brightly at me.
"I love you to."

Looking back into the crowd, I whisper to myself,
"I love you cousin."

I don't know if it's my mind playing tricks on me, but I swear somewhere in the wind, I heard, "I love you to cousin."

I shake my head, and turn back to my friends.
I laugh,
and talk.
and celebrate.
Just like I'm supposed to.

Then I promise to myself: No more thinking about the past.
Just think about the future.
