Chapter 11- Bad news, Good news and advice from Karen..

Pope didn't speak to me much. He just smiled or ginned if he he'd killed a skitter.

"Look can we go back? You've got your tests to pick up" He finally speaks.

"I'll go, you stay just in case they come back please" He nodded and got his bags out of the car,

"I'll get the them and come straight back " I didn't want to leave but I had to.

*3 hours later* 

"Hey Anne, I've come for my results" She nodded and handed me the letter.

"Hayley remember whatever is on that paper, It doesn't change you we can get you the help you need okay?" She knows it's bad news. Her face showed everything.

I looked at the paper I could feel the tears well up and fall down my cheek, 

"I have cancer. How?" She shook her head.

"Hayley I wish I knew it's not spread so we can operate and remove the tumour" I nodded, I walked outside wanting to tell Ben or Liam, I just needed Ben, but like everything else in my life it get's lost or somebody takes it.

I drove straight to Pope and saw Tom sitting there next to Pope, I ran straight over to him, he stood up and hugged me. I held him tightly.

"Tom..I have..Cancer...I've just got my life back..Ben's gone missing my life is screwed, I'm scared for my life. I need this to go away Tom please make it go away" I cried into his shoulder.

"Hey, It's gonna be okay I promise" I shook my head. 

"No Tom what if it isn't, There's 1 in a million chance I could survive, but I don't wanna die Tom I can't not yet" He nodded and hugged me closer.

"MASON, WE FOUND LIAM. HAYLEY GET OVER HERE" I ran towards Weaver. I saw my oldest brother lying there, life-less.

"No, No, No. Liam get up. Liam wake up. Please come on" It was no use. He had no pulse. Cochise came running towards us.

"Please save him, I'm begging you" 

He just stared at me, blankly. Not saying anything anything to me, I looked in Tom's eyes.

"No, WHY AREN'T YOU DOING ANYTHING?" I shouted at Cochise, he looked at me.

"I'm deeply sorry, Your brother is re-generating again it seems, He'll be older, 20 years old to be exact. 

"Oh my god" I put my hand over my mouth, it would be Liam but it wouldn't be the same Liam. 

That's when I realized, if Liam had his heart stop, that would mean a clock stopped. The only place that had a clock was the library.

"Guys," I wiped my eyes. "I know where the others are" 

We rode to the library with Cochise following behind, He needed some explaining to do. We did have a plan but I had lost myself and my big brother Liam, no way was I about to lose Ben as well so I did what any mental person did. I stormed into that place and had my gun at the ready just incase any skitters threw themselves at me. I walked into the main bit.

"Ben? Ben you in here?"I heard a whimper coming from the toilets. I bust open the door and found one of Pope's men on thr floor holding a knife wound on his side.

"POPE, POPE" I shouted until him and a medical person came into the bathroom, I ran out and towards the hole. (Main part) I wasn't letting whoever had Ben kill him. He needed to know what I had and thinking of leaving it. 

"Well..Well..Well, Why don't you just give up?!" I heard a voice behind me. Karen.

"I thought I killed you. Why don't you just die already, Come on we both know it's for the best. You changed. Hal doesn't love you. You planted something in him for him to finally love you and even then it wasn't Hal it was the Hal you wanted him to be, the one that believed you and saw you as the world. Ben wants you dead. Just like Tom and the rest of the 2nd Mass. You don't belong in the world anymore Karen!" I screamed at her, I saw Ben lying on the floor in pain.

"He's fine, if you get him in the hospital in 20 minutes, If you don't. I'll open a wound and make him bleed like a river sweetheart. I'l blow up the 2nd Mass camp so bright it'll be a christmas tree." She let Ben walk to me.

"POPE, GET BEN" He came in and passed Ben to Tom, He stood out the door waiting for me to walk out, I began to walk until Karen spoke up.

"I wasn't always a bitch you know, I was just a normal teenager fighting for my right. But nothing worked. I know what you've got Hayley. Just tell Ben. He'll understand I promise. This is the normal Karen speaking to you. Save your family Hayley. You won't get another one." And with that she was gone.

"Hey, They've took Ben back, we better get going." I nodded and ran to the car to hide my tears. I was either dying or living. Why did I have to get the choice.

We got back to the camp and I ran straight to the hospital, I saw Anne waiting for me. 

"I'm ready. I want it gone." She nodded and called on Cochise, he walked in and touched my head, I didn't remember anything after that. Just waking up with my family around me. My dad asleep next to me holding my hand. 

"You didn't tell, Hun we could of solved it." I heard Liam spoke up. 

"Well, I thought I'd survive didn't I, I thought if I worried people it'll make everything worse , My main focus was you and only you. But things happened. Trust me I didn't want it," 

 I looked at each of my family members. Liam's face softened when I finished, He knew there was no point in arguing with me because I'd win. I looked at Dan and Nat playing a board game. He was looking more like Liam every day passing. Then lastly my dad, The man that walked out on us because my mum told him. The man that let me down so many times I can't count them, and yet he survived two years of this war. And kept a kid alive, and is lying next to me holding my hand for dear life. Maybe everyone makes mistakes but at least he's made up half the time for being away. He's my dad and at the end of the day he's the only one I've got. I know that now. 

"Hayley. Ben's out of surgery. Good news. We found Karen hiding in a cafe, Weaver shot her. She's dead. No more worrying" Tommy ran in nearly jumping out of his skin.

"Okay Tommy, Well I guess we better celebrate then" I smiled and he chuckled. Only two more days till I was out. 

"Hayley" I heard my dad say..

"Yeah pops." I giggled a little.

"I love you you know that right? I've not been the best dad but I love you. I'll never leave you again" I smiled while I felt a tear roll down my cheek..

"I love you too dad" He smiled and moved so he was able to walk off.. 

Maybe this is my happy ever after..

Hey guys, sorry I've not been active..It's been hectic around here, 

I'm in year 11 which is the last year at Secondary so it's scary and a lot of exams are coming up so I've been cramming in revision.. 

Plus side I've got 6 weeks off so I'll be uploading more chapters:)
