"So is anyone going to tell me what's going on. Something that you need to tell Tom or is it a secret that we'll have to get it out of you?" We looked at each other. Nobody spoke.

"Are you all suddenly mute? Tell me! Talk. I will have to get your parents involved, Hal, Ben and Hayley. Unless one of you speaks up. I'll have to take drastic measures."

We all stood up, nobody spoke but followed Weaver back to camp. We all knew the dangers of not telling. But telling could harm the group even more. We all looked at each other and nodded. No one would tell anyone. Nobody would speak and tell anyone what happened. What we found. What we heard would be our secret. We could keep it quiet. I think.

We arrived back at camp. Everyone saw us walking in but didn't know what was going on. We all followed Weaver to the office. I was yanked away by my dad.

"What did I tell you about being with the Mason's! I told you to stay away." I scoffed.

"When you act like a dad and support my decisions then I'll listen. Excuse me. I have business and personal things to attend to." I pulled my arm away and caught up with Ben and the others.

"Hey, everything okay?" Ben smiled at me. I nodded and smiled back. I swear this boy has stars in his eyes.

"So. Anybody want to tell me what the hell is going on?" We looked at each other. "Or are we going to sit here and force it out of you. Meaning. Any missions you will not go on. Any killings happening. You will not be a part of. Anything else along the lines of killing. Helping. Or collecting. You will not be a part of." Nobody spoke up "The longer you don't tell us. The longer we cancel your role in the 2nd mass."

"I'm sorry Tom. But this is something you have to trust us on. We have to do this alone. We have to prove something. That we're not going to hide behind the elders anymore. The four of us need to do this alone. You have to trust us." He looked at me.

He began shaking his head. I scoffed. "Of course. Why would you trust a daughter of Pope. Right? I could be playing everyone and really telling my dad? Am I warm! Seriously. How many more family members of mine have to die before you listen and realise that we are not our fathers or mothers. I'm sorry. You can tell him. I'll still go out there. No matter what. If I have to die fighting to prove I'm nothing like Pope. Then fine. So be it!" As I stood up. Cochise came walking in.

"Really! Alien boy? This just gets better." Tom and Cochise looked at me and began talking to each other.

"I am not sure why you said alien boy. I do not understand the reference. But the four of you are in grave danger. Forces that took Lexi are after you four. It is positive we will not let you go anywhere on your own. We have put you with a person. Maggie you will be with Anne. Hal you will be with Weaver. Ben you will be with your father Tom Mason. Hayley you will be with your father Pope. Until we figure out what this is. You will stay with this person." Our 'guardians' came walking in. Of course everyone was happy. Well one person isn't.

"Let's just go. I'm sick of picking up the pieces of your mess." Before he could drag me away I ran to Ben and hugged him. I knew it'd be a while before I could fully see him again. My dad would rather die than let me have a life with the person I love. We pulled away. He put his forehead to mine. And said those 3 words every girl wants to hear.

"I love you. Hayley. No matter what. I love you. I always will. Since I first saw you. I love you." I smiled and giggled.

"Well Ben Mason. I love you. No matter what. Forever and always right?" He nodded. He repeated what I said.

I walked away from him and towards my dad. We walked to where I would be staying for a while. Wonderful. Gone are the days of staying up late and talking with Ben. I would have nothing left. He pointed to my bed. I sat down and looked at him.

"Please keep this silent treatment up. I actually enjoy the peace." He didn't look. Just had his head down. "I'm going to see my baby brother. Feel free to join or stop me. Seriously." I stood up and began walking out the 'door'.

"You genuinely love him don't you. I saw the way you looked at him. The same look I had when I was younger. With your mother. God she was beautiful. I always said she should be a model. Not a lawyer. She had so much potential. Hayley. I loved your mother. Not a day goes by where I don't pray and think of her. How her blonde hair fell on her face as she laughed. Or how she took ages curling her hair. Painting her nails. When I found out she was pregnant it was the best thing in the world. I loved it. But your grandparents had other plans. They didn't like me. Didn't like the way your mother looked at me. The way I looked at her. They thought I was nothing. A waste. She kicked me out. I still loved her. Even when she moved on. I held her close to my heart. The way she smiled. You have her smile. Her eyes. Shame you have my boring brown hair. I know you love him. I see it. I just can't lose you again. Because you'll chose him. All the time. You'll chose him because I'm useless. The thought of losing you again. It's something I can't handle. I'm sorry for everything I've done. I really am. I never meant to get in the way of your life. I just need you to stay. I need my daughter." He broke down crying. I ran over and hugged him. He finally understood. Every feeling I had for Ben. He understood.

"Yeah I do love him. He's always been kind to shown me love. Always been at my side. But I would never chose him. You're my dad. You gave me life. You and mother. You might have done some bad things. Boy you've done some bad things. But you've done good also. I would never chose him over you. Sure it'd be tempting. But family is the one thing that I lose. I won't lose you" I pulled him close and hugged him.

We walked to the cafeteria and got our food. I saw my dad go to walk off. Until I saw the Mason's and pulled him towards there table. We both sat down and realised the entire room was silent.

"Look kid, thanks for trying but I'm going to go. See you later," before I could stop him he walked off. I set daggers to everyone in the room.

Something's just don't change.
