Chapter 12- I'm here forever. Can't get rid of me..

Hayley's POV

Three weeks. Three weeks since Karen's been doing this mind game, I know she's dead but it's like I can see her, everywhere I go I've got the reminder of her face, like she's there, watching me. Judging me, I know I'm going crazy but it's a horrible reminder of what I've done and how many people she's killed, and how many people have died trying to restore humanity back to the way it was.

I knew deep down that she was still alive. A little bit of her was still alive. The bitch part. The part that tricks you. And that is what she's doing, Tricking me making me see things that aren't there. Or maybe I've just been away from the family for a bit. I've been here in the same hospital bed for about 5 days. I never knew that having this surgery would take everything out of me. It was stupid of me to think I could finally have something that wasn't death in my family. Stupid girl I am.

Since my 5th birthday all I've known is death. Nothing more, I never knew love. I never got close to anyone. They either left like my dad or died like my cousin. So getting close to someone wasn't ideal for me. Then came Ben, he changed the way I saw relationships. He actually gave me hope, from the cheekiness inside to the caring outside. He knew everything about me. I knew somethings about him, but I understand. Most of it is about his mum so I can't really push him..

"Hey daydreamer" I saw Hal in the doorway.

"Hey Hal, how's Ben?" He chuckled..

"He's fine, but like always he's worrying about you. He wants to see you and tell you things are gonna work out"

"Hal, please tell me, you haven't told him?" I looked at him. Praying he said no.

"Er..Look he could see right through me. He knew I was lying as soon as I spoke up. I try to tell him Hayley."

"Hal it's fine, I understand that, I know how bad things are now."

"You up for fighting soon?" He chuckled as we both hear Tom at the door

"My girl won't be doing anything for a while, She needs a full recovery" I groaned.

"Dad, I can handle it. I've been in worse places. I did get shot and was in coma you know that don't you?" He nodded, telling Tom I'd be fighting as soon as Anne let me out. It's weird how many people decided to go their own way and came back because they 'missed' everyone. To be honest I think it's because they can't survive without the 2nd Mass. But that's just me.

"Well, She can go now Tom, she can go out. I'm happy that she's made a full recovery and is ready for fighting." I smiled, Anne walked out laughing.

They left me to get changed into my gear and gather my things. I walked out and handed my stuff to my dad while Anne gave me Ben's room key. I walked to the room '103' I slipped in the key. He was lying there sleeping, He looked rough like someone had tourted him. Well Karen did but I didn't think she'd step the line of him being put on a drip, I watched as he slowly stirred in his sleep, knowing that someone was there but not knowing who it was.

"Dad?" He groaned. I quickly moved to the chair next to his bed.

"No, Ben it's me. Hayley" He chuckled. Which I can never know if it's a good sign or not.

"Hey boo, You okay?" Now it was my turn to chuckle. I held his hand.

"Now Ben, that's the question I should be asking you, what did Karen do to you?" He looked at me confused.

"What? Who's Karen? What are you talking about? what do you mean, Hayley this isn't a joke" I stared at him. Anne came in breaking the silence out of the room.

"Hayley can I speak to you outside for a minute" I nodded kissing Ben on his cheek and walking out.

"He hit his head pretty hard on the fall into the book case. Unfortunately he hit that part of the brain that keeps memories. Short-term he's looking bad. Long-term, we're hoping it doesn't increase, but decrease so he'll remember everything. The same with short-term." I looked at her. I hadn't realized that the whole Mason family was there.
