"There has to be a way I could get there —please," I begged the management.

"I'm sorry Daniel, but your schedule will be too busy!" he replied as many solutions played in my head.

"It's this weekend! Come on we don't have a show that day. I'll fly there early in the morning and come back the morning of the dance," I solved causing him to wonder.

"We're on the other side of the country! It's one dance, Daniel," he groaned.

"It's prom!"

"You don't see Jonah or Zach asking to go to their prom! I'm sorry, but it's too tight to go there right now," he spoke walking away from the bus.

An annoyed groan passed my way as I collapsed onto my bed of the bus. Jonah and Zach entered seeing my annoyance already knowing the answer to our question. They sent me to talk to management about our little trip, yet it was obvious it would be shut down.

The three girls would be there that night as their boyfriends weren't. Zach informed us that Ali would go to their prom since Zach promised her he would show up, but the disappointment would seep through the air. I saw the intense look in both their eyes now sitting on their assigned beds as Jack and Corbyn walked in.

"Why is everyone so glum?" he asked sitting next to me.

"Their prom is this weekend," I sang blankly as Jack nodded understanding.

"They didn't let you go — did they?" the curly-haired boy asked as I nodded my head in sadness.

Zach sighed getting onto his phone exiting the bus probably to tell Ali the terrible news. I just wanted to see her — just one more time. We were finally together, and this would be our time as a couple. That work felt so foreign to think, but it was the blessing of reality.

She was my girlfriend.

We tried to talk since I've left, but it's obvious that we're both so busy. Those few hours at prom would be one of our few moments of connection since I've seen her. Yes, it's been two weeks, but I wouldn't know the next time I'd see her. We're leaving to Canada and Europe soon and she's going to head to New York over summer, so what's next?

As I would get back mid June in sunny California, she would be miles and miles away from me — again.

"Why don't you just sneak out?" Corbyn asked confused.

"It's obvious they would notice us gone," I gave him a dirty look annoyed.

"Well, we don't have a concert for those two days they have prom, you can just say we're out exploring. They would never know!"

I didn't know what came over us, but this plan seemed like such a good idea. Maybe it was the desperation or maybe it was the want of good news, but it ended up with us looking at the newest flights to Newport. Jonah was calling Kendra asking if we could stay at her house as Jack and Corbyn wanted to tag along as well.

We got Eben to cover for us as adrenaline rushed through my body. I made sure to grab all my luggage from the bus as we made it to the hotel, but quickly knowing not to unpack. This weekend was only a couple days away and that meant not only a couple more days of waiting.

"Move it a little more to the right!" I yelled at Ali as she groaned in frustration.
