"Aro will want us incapacitated before he attacks. Jane and Alec will try and take me out first because I can anticipate their moves," Edward explains.
"Too bad we don't all have your shields," Garrett says as he looks at Bella and me.
"Doesn't help me fight, though," Bella says.
"No, but you both could help the rest of us, if you both could project it," Tanya says.
"What do you mean?" Bella asks.
"I mean shield someone other than yourself," Tanya answers.
"Is that possible?" Bella asks.
"Yes," I answer her.
"Gifts can be developed. Over time," Carlisle adds.
"At first, mine was just in my palms. Now I can radiate it all over my body," Kate explains.
"How do you do it? Tell me," Bella asks as she grabs Kate's hand.
"Ow," Kate says. We then head outside.
"You need to visualize it. See how it moves," I tell Bella before nodding to Kate so she can take over and I can focus on mine.
"What color it is. Now picture it expanding. Will it to go beyond you," Kate says. I watch as we can barely see Bella's shield.
"I think she needs something to motivate her," I say and Kate nods in agreement. Edward walks forward.
"No," Bella says.
"It's all right, I can take it," Edward says.
"He says that now," Garrett states with a smile.
"Focus, Bella, or he's gonna be hurting," Emmett says.
"You have me if it gets too bad," I say.
"Edward, I'm not ready to do this yet," Bella says and Kate touches his hand. Edward falls to the ground. "I'm sorry. I said that I wasn't ready."
"Dude, you're not motivating her," Emmett says.
"You want to try?" Edward asks as he stands back up. Emmett holds his hands up in surrender. Bella tries to use her shield and Kate touches Edward's neck. Bella loses her shield, so I quickly use mine and Edward stops grunting in pain.
"Kate!" Bella says after Kate moves her hand away. They look at me shocked for a second before they continue.
"You seem to lack incentive. Shall I go see if Renesmee's awake?" Kate asks.
"Are you crazy?" Bella asks her.
"Alright. This one's on full power," Kate says and Edward sends Bella a 'help me' look. Bella is able to push her shield around Edward.
"It's painful, but it's bearable," He says as Kate shocks him. Kate stops. Bella looks really happy.
"Okay, we should go again," Bella says.
"Emmett," Edward offers.
"I'm good," Emmett says as he backs up a few steps.
"I'll go," I say as I see Alistair watching us intently.
"Your shield though?" Garrett asks. I let my shield drop before I grab Kate's arm which causes her to shock me and I drop to my knee grunting in pain.Everyone looks shocked besides Edward.
"She can let her shield drop because it is more advanced than Bella's," Edward explains. We go a couple of more rounds and Bella has it to where I don't want to put up my own shield. The next morning, Bella wants to take Renesmee to see Charlie. Jake, Seth, and I decide to go with them. Bella drives while I ride shotgun, leaving Seth, Jake, and Renesmee in the back.
"I'm surprised you both took a break from Jedi training," Jake says which causes me to smile.
"If I don't take Renesmee to our dad, he'll come to us," Bella explains. "27 vampires, one human. Not so great."
"I know that's what you told Edward," I whisper to her. She just gives me a look. "Whatever."
"I'm just glad to get away from all those reeking bloodsuckers," Jake says which earns him a look from Bella.
"I'm sorry. I know. They're the good guys," Jake says. "But come on, Dracula One and Two are..." Jake makes a face with his eyes going wide. "creepy." We all start laughing. Not long after we pull up to Charlie's to see him and Sue come outside. Renesmee hops out of the car with Seth following her.
"There she is. Come here," Charlie says before he picks Renesmee up and spends her around. Seth hugs his mom. "Wow! Look at you. You've grown half a foot! Seriously. Like 6 inches."
"Come on inside. Lunch is on the table," Sue tells us.
"We got a tree to decorate, huh?" Charlie asks.
"I've actually got a few errands to run, guys. I'll be back soon, okay?" Bella says before me and her share a look.
"Come on. Let's go," Charlie says before he, Sue, Seth, and Renesmee head inside.
"Come one. She'll be okay," Jake says as he presses a kiss to my temple before we head inside. When Bella came back she seemed sad. So, I broke through her shield and read her mind. She had met a man that was set up by Jasper and Alice. The man gave her four passports. The pictures showed Renesmee, Seth, Jake, and me but not Edward or Bella like I expected. It seems as if this is going to turn into a battle after all. I look at Bella sadly and she nods. We return to the Cullen's before Bella and I head to discuss what happened. Bella told me everything and I helped her with packing for Renesmee.
"My dearest Renesmee, I thought we would have forever together. But forever isn't as long as I'd hoped. I know now why Alice left me clues. It was to keep you safe. Everything you, Seth, Anna, and Jacob will need is in this pack. Seth will protect you. Jacob and Anna will protect you both. And they'll help you learn about the Ticuna legends." Bella writes a letter to Renesmee, already having written one to Seth.
"It's a romantic notion, isn't it?" Alistair asks as he walks into the room. "That a righteous few can defy a great evil. I must admit, you both even had me believing. For a moment. Well, good luck. You're gonna need it.Cheers." Alistair then leaves for good.
