As we get closer to the Cullen's we go our separate ways to phase back. I find Jake after we phase and we start walking towards the Cullen's house. "You okay?" I look at Jake who is trying to get a hold of his emotions. A twig snaps behind us and we turn to find Seth.
"Whoa. Don't worry. They're not following us," Seth says.
"What do you think you're doing here?" Jake asks him.
"I left Sam's pack," Seth answers.
"Go home, Seth," Jake orders and I slap his arm.
"I won't stand behind him," Seth says.
"Oh, yes, you will. I'm not kidding. Get out of here," Jake orders.
"Is that an order? Gonna make me bow down, too?" Seth asks him.
"I'm not ordering anyone. Look, I'm just going off on my own here, okay?" Jake answers.
"Great, and we've got your back," Seth says as he throws an arm around my shoulders. I give him an "Are you crazy look?"
"No, you don't," Jake says.
"Jake, it's his choice," I say as I shake Seth's arm off.
"If Sam comes after Bella, are you really ready to fight your own brothers? Your sister?" Jake goes on to ask Seth.
"If it's the right thing to do," Seth answers.
"Whatever. I'm gonna go give the Cullens a heads-up. Do what you want," Jake says as we start walking towards the Cullen's house.
"I'm going to check on Bella. Seth, keep quiet because no one besides the pack knows about me," I say and he nods. "Oh and your welcome for kicking Embry's butt for you since you did you know what." I look at Jake before going ahead of them.
"How cool is this? Two-man and one woman pack. Three against the world," I hear Seth say.
"You're getting on my nerves, Seth," I hear Jake say before I disappear into the house. When I walk in I use my head to motion Edward towards the balcony. He walks outside and I go back downstairs before going outside.
"Get ready. They're coming for Bella," Jake says.
"They're not gonna touch her," Edward says.
"Agreed," Jake states before he and Edward share a nod. Edward then goes back inside to tell the others.
"Man, I can smell them from all the way out here," Leah says as she walks up which makes me give a small smile.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Jake asks her.
"I'm not gonna let my little brother get himself killed," Leah answers.
"Go away, Leah! I can take care of myself," Seth defends himself.
"That you think so proves you need a babysitter," Leah says.
"Okay, would the both of you shut up? Did Sam send you?" Jake asks her.
"Sam doesn't even know I left," Leah answers before we hear howling.
"I think he just figured it out," I say.
"Jake. I know what his plan is," Leah says before she fills us in.
"Let's go tell the Cullen's," I say as I look at Jake. "You two patrol and don't kill each other." I smile at Leah and Seth before Jake and I go inside.
"Sam's lost the element of surprise, and he doesn't want to take you on outnumbered, so he's not gonna come at you head on. He's got the place surrounded and he'll wait for his opportunity," Jake explains.
"We won't get through without a fight," Emmett says.
"No fights. We won't be the ones to break the treaty," Carlisle explains.
"The treaty is void, at least in Sam's mind," I say. I had told everyone besides Bella and the pack about my mind reading powers. The Cullen's still don't know I'm a part of the pack though.
"Not in ours," Esme says.
"Carlisle, no one's hunted for weeks," Emmett says.
"We'll make do," Esme says.
"You've done us a great service, Jacob. Thank you," Carlisle says. I go check on Bella. Later that night I walk out on the balcony and see Leah walk up to Jake as they look over the river. I decide to eavesdrop.
"I know they're out there somewhere, but I can't hear them anymore. It's so quiet," Jake says.
"I stopped hearing them, too, the second I decided to leave. It's nice," Leah agrees.
"You know you can't stay here," Jake states and I roll my eyes.
"But I don't have any place..." Leah starts.
"I can't trust you with the Cullen's. You hate them too much. You don't even like me," Jake explains.
"I don't have to. I just have to follow you," Leah says.
"Look, Anna may be okay with you here but Seth doesn't want you here. Neither do I," Jake says.
"Being unwanted isn't exactly a new thing for me," Leah says sadly. Leah then goes to walk away but she turns back. "Look, I'll stay out of your way. I'll do whatever you want, except go back to Sam's pack and be the pathetic ex-girlfriend he can't get away from. You don't know how many times I wished I could imprint on someone. Anyone."
"Just to break the connection," Jake says understanding. Jake then looks up at me and I smile. "All right. I'm gonna do a perimeter run. You got my flank?" They take off to run the perimeter. I go back inside and see Bella shaking. "Are you cold?" I ask her and she nods. I sit beside her and put her legs in my lap before covering us with a blanket. Not long after Bella falls asleep. Jake comes in from the run. He and Edward watch over Bella while Emmett paces at the window. Later on, Edward starts doing research with Alice, Jasper, and Carlisle. The next day Jake, Leah, Seth and I are standing by the river when Esme comes out with some sandwiches. Seth quickly takes one from her with a smile. Esme then holds one out for Leah but Leah turns away. Jake steps forward before he grabs his and Leah's while mouthing 'thank you.' I take mine from Esme and give her a small hug which makes her smile. I go inside after I finish my sandwich. Rosalie and I are helping Bella take a bath after her check up with Carlisle.
