Chapter 4 Pandemonium

Charlie POV

I didn't know what I had just seen some kind of wind blew my now ex- boyfriend and the rest of the rugby team back and they were knocked out by the time they hit the floor. I didn't have any time to react when she picked me up I felt a gush of wind and we were in front of a house I guess it was hers. She put me on the couch and walked away I just sat there.

"Echo! Are you home the school called- hello who are you" a woman asked as she walked into the house and looked at me. Just as I was about to answer echo came downstairs with a first aid kit.

"oh hi mom what's up" she said while walking over to me and kneeling down proceeding to wiping the blood from my lips.

"oh goodness what happen to you two" she said as she realized we were covered in bruises.

"My name is Charlie kingdom and you daughter defended me from my abusive ex-boyfriend to day" I replied.

Ms. Clearwater Put her purse down and wiped the blood from the back of my head were chase pulled my hair. Echo turned my head so the both could get access to the many cuts. I looked into Echo's eyes and admired the colors she had pure white hair and one blue one red eye they were beautiful. Her lips were naturally pink and It was cute how she bit her lips trying to concentrate on cleaning the cuts. She had surprisingly had no visible cut but a bruise on her shoulder and she would wince when she stretched her arm out.

Our eyes met for only a few seconds until something caught her attention. She looked at my sleeve I quickly pulled it down and moved my arm but she pulled it back with a great amount strength and slid up the arm of my jacket. Her eyes widened in shock as she looked at the freshly made cuts on my wrist they were still blood stained.

"What have you been doing does your sister know you do this" she asked in a soft tone. She wiped off the blood and placed a few bandaids on my wrist.

"no don't tell anybody" I replied

"charlie I don't believe you know the severity of what I did today I don't even know" she said with worry in my eyes.

"I knew this would happen some day but not your first day of school this is horrible" Ms. Clearwater said as she stood up.

"what do you mean mom, you knew this would happen?" Echo asked with suspicion.

"Yes and so did your father " she replied.

Echo POV

"What did happen?" I asked looking at here mother with suspicion.

"Well since the cat is out of the bag I might as well tell you what you are" mom said while she looked to the ceiling thinking out loud.

"What I am?" I questioned

"Yes Echo half of what you are. Nine months ago when you were attacked we found you unconscious and drenched in blood. You had a big black scratch across your chest and you were mumbling incoherently. When the ambulance arrived at the hospital the scratch was gone and you had the that scar. What we didn't notice was that you changed. While in the hospital you had to be restrained because you were hurting people.

"your first day you broke a nurses nose And severely hurt some passing patients. The weird thing was you weren't even awake when this happen you were sleeping. None of the drugs were working so they had to hold you down during observation." my mom went on explaining what had happened to me

apparently I'm a half-breed between demon and human so I have the powers of a demon and the looks of a human. This is because I was attacked by a demon and it's powers were transported to me. The only reason my class was attacked was because my family is one of the biggest demon slaying clans in the world so they went after a new generation. The clan hunters in the underworld don't know I'm alive so we have to keep it that way until I get stronger or when my father comes back.

I had nearly forgotten that Charlie was there until she spoke. "So what kind of powers dose she have like can she fly or teleport because I know she has super strength" she said as she winked at me.

"Hey,yeah what kind of powers do I have It would be nice to read minds so I can know what dad thinks when I ask if I can get a car" I say as I let a laugh.

"To tell you the truth I think you can do that and more you just got to think about, I need to start packing tonight we leave tomorrow" she replied pulling out her phone.

"What do you mean pack, where we going?" I questioned confused at her statement.

"We're going to Pandemonium" she replied as she walked away.

"Pandemonium?" I repeated

While I was packing my bags mom entered my room with a sullen look on her face I knew she was going to tell me some bad news.

"Hey,mom what's up you look like your favorite character died on one of your soaps" I said trying to get a smile out of her but it didn't work.

"Honey, I have some good and bad news" she continued not waiting for me to respond"Your friend Ms.kingdom will have to come with us"

"What's so bad about her coming?" I asked

"she will have to become your retainer and never leave your side for the rest of your life"

"What is a retainer?" I asked trying to register the situation.

"A retainer is more of a life servant that shares a strong bound with their master or in your case mistress "she answered. I was stunned with shock she wouldn't even have a choice she would leave for a long time and probably never return.

After the conversation with my mother I texted Charlie asking her to come over to my house. Almost a minute later she texted back saying she would be here in twenty giving me time to clean my room. Believe it or not I'm sort of messy it doesn't help that I hardly ever leave the house.When I was finally finished my mom called me saying Charlie had arrived as I was walking down stairs I thought of how to tell her we needed to Leave.

" Hey,Charlie" I said as I approached her.

"what's up echo" she questioned as we walked up to my room. I sat on my bed and patted next to me.

"Charlie I need to talk to you" I started

"What about?" she sounded worried

I grabbed her hand and looked into her eyes meaning i was serious "Charlie I'm leaving tomorrow and you have to come with me to pandemonium"

"You want me to come with you to this pandemonium"

She asked not braking eye contact. All I could do was nod in response. I heard a knock at the door then I saw my mother.

"Did you tell her?" she asked walking towards us.

"yes but she has yet to answer" I said looking at her waiting.

" There is no answering we have to start the retainer bind so she can pass through the portal" she said. Realizing I forgot to tell her about the retainer thing.

"Retainer?Portal?" she looked confused.

"The only way you can pass through the portal is to accept the job of retainer to my daughter you will be together until either you or my daughters death since you know to much already" Ms.Clearwater stated

"I'll never comeback to this town?" Charlie asked

"Only if we ever return which severely doubt considering my daughters actions today" she replied

"Well then I'll come I've never liked this town" Charlie said with venom in her voice.

"well then I guess we're going to Pandemonium" I said with a toothy smile.
