Chapter 8 Truth

"I'm going to die"

"Echo! How long have you been there?" mom asked walking towards me.

"Long enough to know I'm going to die!" I screamed.

"Yes you will die if you don't get stronger" my farther argued back.

"Richard! What are you telling our daughter!" my mom stepped in.

"I'm telling her the truth Echo if you don't get stronger you will die"

"But I thought that you were going to hunt him down" I questioned.

"We were until we found out the one to receive the powers must kill the demon if we send a hunter both you and the demon will die" he paused."You see echo until that demon dies he will have a connection with you the longer your connected the more you loose your humanity"

"Humanity what do you mean I won't be human?" I asked.

"Yes the powers you have will overthrow your conscience mind you will become dark more mad and soon if the connection isn't broken you will become a demon yourself" he stated anger brimming with every word.

"What happens when I become a demon" I questioned knowing I wouldn't like the answer.

"We will kill you" he said in a monotone voice.

"What! Why?" wondering why would my parents kill their only daughter.

"The slayer blood that's in your body is that of the Clearwaters if you become a demon you will be the strongest in all time we cannot risk the chance even if you are our daughter" my father said speaking like a leader and not a concerned parent.

Without a word I walked out of the housing unit into the dead of night. I heard footsteps behind me preparing to fight I turned around I was shocked to see who was following expecting it to be Charlie.

" Princess what are you doing outside of the housing unit come on we're going back" I said grabbing her hand.

"Do not treat me like a child I can walk where I please" she said yanking her hand from me.

Before I could respond the presence of a dark creature. Entered my mind it was twenty feet away watching us from the bushes. Slowly I backed away pretending it wasn't there. I leaned over to whisper in the princess ear.

"Princess I need you to walk into the house very slowly and calm do not look back please" I pulled away and smiled kissing her on the cheek. She turned and did as I said closing the door behind her.

"What do you want I can sense you" I spoke in it's direction. A giant shadow approached stepping into the light.

"He was right you do have his powers" it stated walking towards me.

"What do you want" I asked hatred in every word.

"I want to tell you a story that would change the very world you see before your eyes" he said beckoning for me to follow. I walked into the cold dark night.

CHARLIE POV

"Mom! I'm going to be late for school" I yelled from upstairs.

"don't worry I'm taking you just come down" she yelled back.

I was walking downstairs when I heard voices. Dad should be at work and my sister had cheer practice.

When I reached the last step I saw something a shadow but it was a red shadow I figured it was nothing. That was when I saw my mom on the ground with blood everywhere.

I remember this its the day my mom was murdered. She was waiting for me to come down I heard nothing. Then a scream the chilled me to this day.

" Mom! What was th-" I was cut off by that sight.

"Mom! Whats wrong"

"Charlie hide he's still here" I stood there wondering who did this. Who could hurt my mother I would kill anyone that dared hurt my family. I heard shuffling above me.

"He's upstairs" I thought to myself.

Grabbing a bat I walked upstairs with the only intention to kill or be killed. This was the day I killed my mothers murderer. I hit him sixteen times in the head. When the ambulance came I was holding the body of my mother. When they found me covered in blood and whispering to her body. I was locked away two years. In a institution for the criminally insane.

When I woke up echo and the princess were missing. I crawled out of bed to see what was going on. When I reached the kitchen I saw ten royal guards looking at maps. I looked around to see echoes crying.

"What's going on wheres echo" the mention of her name made everyone in the room pause.

"Your awake!" Mrs. Clearwater exclaimed.

"What o course I'm awake I was only sleeping a few hours" I explained with confusion.

"Charlie you been in a coma for over a month" she said with concern.

"What! Thats impossible wheres echo!" I yelled.

"she been missing since the night we were attacked thats when you went in a coma" Richard explained.

"What!"

ECHO POV

"chief we need help with the new recruits" a soldier said walking up to me.

"okay I'll be there asap" I replied.

" Echo I'm proud of you, you will become a great leader someday" Lamber said walking up to me.

"I hope I'm able to take down the kingdom with such scrawny men" I replied.
