time will tell"Miles!" Baldwin shouted, closing the door with his right foot before he came rushing towards me with excitement and happiness written all over his pale face. "You won't believe what I got right here."
I stared at whatever he was holding in his hands and let out a loud breath. "Well, I guess you're going to tell me."
He began to jump up and down like a little kid who just got some ice cream for free and for some odd reason, it made me smile. "Okay- wait, uhm... prepare yourself."
"I am prepared," I remarked as I scratched my elbow. "Don't make such a big—"
"You're going to see Green Day."
My mouth fell wide open and I forgot how to breathe out of a sudden. His words kept echoing through my mind like a broken casette player and I balled my fists to prevent my arms from shaking like crazy. He had got to be kidding me. I was overwhelmed and shocked in a good way because there was this certain feeling in my heart that made it beat twice as fast. "Wha- what?"
"Throughout these past years I managed to figure out how much you love Green Day and how much their music means to you but since you've abandoned yourself from the outter world, I thought I'd do you a favor and help a friend out. You have no idea how hard it was to get these," he explained with a heart-warming smile. "Plus they're front row!"
Without further hesitation, I pulled him close to my chest to give him a hug that was long overdue. It felt odd to break my shells but it was worth it. Baldwin has been nothing but the best person on earth and he deserved to have a true friend and since he considered me his 'bestest' mate, I could proudly say that he was my 'bestest' mate either. "Thank you."
"Are you alright, Miles? Why, what when and how—"
"Thank you so much," I repeated as he pulled away to hand me those tickets I had been waiting for all my life. "You bought two tickets but said that only I was seeing Green Day instead of we."
"Yes, I bought two for you and another person of your choice. You know...a person who you'd like to accompany you." When he said that, I hit him on his shoulder playfully and a smile spread across his face.
"Baldwin, I obviously want you to accompany me," I said whole-heartedly. "All we have to do now is to turn you into a Green Day fan. I have each and every single album and EP, so you know what to do for the next couple of months, right?"
He nodded while he chuckled. "And you need to go get a haircut, rest well and perhaps take a long shower."
"Deal," I laughed as I held my hand out for him to shake which he gladly accepted. With a gesture like this, he really managed to pull me out of my misery for a brief moment. I mean I was still stuck in the hole I buried myself in, but I had a friend who was desperately trying to get me out of it because I couldn't do it on my own. I appreciated him more than I would ever confess but was really happy that I had him around and I was pretty sure that he was aware of that.
"Miles?" Baldwin broke the silence between us while staring at something on my desk and once I noticed what he was looking at, I grabbed it to hide it behind my back. "What is that?"
"Nothing in particular." I tried to shrug it off although I knew that he wouldn't just drop it but be stubborn and annoy me instead.
"Do I really look like an untrustworthy person to you? I mean I have told you millions of things about me but I literally know nothing about you at all. I always try my best to be a friend to you, even though you keep rejecting me but for the past months we've made such a big step into the right direction and it kind of hurts that you're still not trusting me with anything related to you," he said rather sadly and I rubbed my eyes to get rid of this headache he caused me whenever we were talking about this topic.
