2. The People I Know Aren't Who They Used To Be

Tuesday

I walk to school, in the cold chilly air, and through the front doors to get to the library for our book discussion. Mrs. Maison bought us muffins today, but I wasn't feeling so hungry, so I didn't take one. They joked around, saying things that were meant to be funny but, I didn't seem to laugh at any of them. I questioned it instead.

How was that funny?

You see the world differently from others, and that is why they don't enjoy you.

I force a smile, so it looks like I know what's going on. The discussion ends quickly, as the second bell rings, signalling that we had to go to class now. The schedule was Language, French, double Math, Drama, History, Band, then Science. I head to class with my Language, French and Math things. The first period wasn't so bad actually. We switched desks. I sighed in relief that I wouldn't be stuck with Aaron talking to me all the time. The seating plan for my table group looked like this

Bella      Jason       Me      Harris

I was pretty lucky not to have Yafio in my group, since he was also talkative, and occasionally rude. We moved to our new seats, and worked a little bit on our assignment that was due tomorrow.

Okay. Let's see. She's nice, supports me, and gives pretty good advice. All set.

I start writing, and by the time it is french, I've already finished two of my paragraphs. 

"Blah, blah, blah. God, when will french ever be fun?" Harris complains beside me. I shrug.

"Beats me, I just want to eat lunch now." I say, pulling out a book, and reading it.

I read my book through the entire explanation of how to do the work, as I grab my sheet of paper and head over to Kane, Joshua, and Kaitlyn. We all decide to go outside and work today, so we ask Madam. She agrees, and we spend our time outside goofing off. For once in a lifetime, this is the sort of laughter I wanted. We head back in to show Madam our sheets, as she congratulates us for finishing our work. The recess bell rings, as we all head outside. 

"Hey Chael, want to go play Last Man Standing with us?" Kane asks. I smile a small bit.

"Yeah, I'll do it." I head with him outside to see the circle forming to see who's 'it.' Turns out Allison was made 'it.' I race off into the fields, with Kane, Diana, and Marie.

"She's coming! SHE'S COMING!" Kane screams. I look at him, worried that he might be losing his mind.

 "Perfect. Spit up guys, see ya later!" I say, running towards my left. To hide behind a tree. She goes after Diana, and Marie, which buys me enough time to go down the stairs next to me, and hide behind the walls that supports the mini hill. Kane races after Diana, trying to get them out. I peer up, seeing Marie race towards me, as Diana runs towards and into the mini 'forest' and Kane decides to back out. 

"HELP ME!" Marie barrels towards me.

"Come here and hide!" I hiss at her. She crouches down beside me. I glance up, and see that Allison had caught Emma, and was working her way towards Diana. The I saw Kane from the corner of my eyes. He was stalling, so when they left, he would come to my hiding spot.

Turns out I was correct. He dove right into the ground, a few centimetres away from me. I pulled him against the wall, as he brushed away dirt and sand. We hid there for a few minutes, until I saw Emma coming towards us.
