Song: Why WorryArtist: Set It Off
Wednesday
I sulked all the way to school, with zero enthusiasm, unlike other days, this was a grey day. A rainy day. One that sucked the life out of everything, leaving it dead and useless.
Nothing.
Absolutely nothing at all.
You're alone.
Alone.
ALONE.
"Stop it. Stop saying that." I mumbled under my breath, tightening my grip on the straps of my backpack.
The shadows will scream that you're alone.
THE SHADOWS WILL SCREAM THAT YOU'RE ALONE.
ALONE.
You're so afraid.
All alone.
ALL. ALONE.
"Stop tormenting me. You're nothing more than just a ghost. Nothing more."
I hadn't even noticed that we headed inside. I just followed the crowd in front of me, to my locker, and then my class. Beneath the desk, I twirled a small pocket knife around while trying to pay attention to what was going on around me. It didn't work. I knew it wouldn't.
Self absorbed.
So alone.
The shadows will scream.
You are alone.
I gripped my pocket knife even harder, as my head spun and my vision blurred. It was so horrible. It hurt. Why do we like to hurt so much? The voice inside my head didn't go way. It just repeated itself over and over again throughout the whole entire day. And as the day went by, nobody spoke to me. Not even once did they glance at me, invite me to play with them, chat with them, eat with them. Not a single person.
You're alone.
Alone.
The shadows will scream that you're alone.
Alone, alone.
Forever.
How pitiful.
It was near the end of the day when the voices became unbearable. As the bell for dismissal rang, Mr. Alexander called me, Margaret, Bella, Helena, Valerius, and Seira to stay behind for a while to help him with something. After I made sure the hall was clear and nobody but us were left, I excused myself to the washroom, and bolted to an empty stall as soon as possible.
The voices, they were deafening now. I sat in the corner, rocking back and forth, eyeing then knife in my hand. I wanted to scream, but I couldn't. Before I knew it, I was slumped against the wall, the knife all bloody, with someone's blood on it. My throat burned, and my wrists felt like they had been on fire. My vision flickered, fading to black and then white. The voices, they continued. They never stopped.
How pathetic.
What a weakling.
Is that all you've got?
How b o r i n g.
Alone.
Alone.
A l o n e.
"Ch... Ael... Can..! Hear me! Chael, listen! Wake... Wake up! Hey... Don't... Wake... Wake up."
It's all fading.
It's not your fault.
It's going to be okay.
I'm sorry.
