Song: Tear In My Heart
Artist: Twenty One Pilots

"Okay, I'm at the bus stop. We're still riding the subway to the concert, right? Where are you? I see the bus coming down the road. Hurry up, will you?" I whined over the phone with Breezy on the other side of the line. She wasn't very far away- I could see her running over towards me. She crosses the intersection, just in time as the bus arrives and we get on.
"You're late." I tell her blankly. Breezy's wearing a red beanie with a camo hoodie, some long and baggy black pants, and a grey t-shirt underneath the outrider. I stare at her with a quizzical look on my face.
"No, you're just too early." Breezy pouts and made an attempt to swat my head. I bowed my head to avoid getting hit.
"Aren't you hot, wearing all that?" I point to all the clothing she's wearing. Breezy shrugs, and gives me a judgmental look.
"I should be asking you that. Wearing a scarf in the middle of summer, along with a black zipped up hoodie, and black jeans. What is wrong with you?" I shrugged, and brushed some hair out of my eye.
The bus ride was bumpy, and hot. I guess the guy driving the bus decided that the breeze outside would suffice. We got to our stop after 20 minutes, and took a break to buy bubble tea and iced coffee, along with some chips. I looked around us, just to make sure we weren't being followed or something; there are a lot of kidnappers these days, you can never be to sure. As we were heading to the subway, I felt someone grab my free hand and held onto it for a moment, giving it a light squeeze. When I looked back down, nobody was holding it. Breezy's hands couldn't have been holding mine, they were too far away. Plus, she would have told me. We arrived at the subway station a couple seconds later. From then on, it was mostly silent.
We get there 45 minutes later. I felt like falling asleep right as we got off the train.
"Hey, what does the GPS say?" Breezy asks me. I glance down at my phone.
"Uhm. Go North a bit, the to the east side. We might have to walk a bit, if that's fine with you. You don't have any serious medical conditions you've been hiding from me, right?" I start walking in the designated direction. She skips beside me.
"Nah, I don't think so." We walk in silence after that, once in a while pointing out funny or cool things around the area. There were many people living on the streets, begging for money. Of course, Breezy gave them some money, and urged me to do the same.
"You never know whether or not they're faking it. Besides, I'm not from a rich family, you know that. We're on the brink of bankruptcy. I would to them if I could, but before you can help others, you have to help yourself first." I clarified my actions. I only had $25 on me, and I didn't have any change on me either. People who heard me decline in giving the poor beggar some money shook their heads and looked at me with a disgusted face. A middle aged woman bent down to the homeless person, and dropped $5 into the cup, then got up, shooting me a look of disapproval.
Hypocrites.
We got to the stadium just in time for the meet in greet, only to be stopped by a guard.
"Hey, you two! Where are your passes?" I looked over to Breezy, who was fumbling for them at the bottom of her bag. She pulled them out and the guard verified it, before scolding us and going back to his place. We lined up in front of a table, behind 2 other pair of people. A child and their mother were standing behind us when I heard the girl ask her mother something.
"Mama, why does that girl have so much lines on her? They look so funny!" I turned around to face the girl who was pointing at me. The mother pushed her daughter's hand down and shushed her, before apologizing for her actions. I just smiled at them, too lazy to get man anymore. The little girl stared at my eye socket that was being covered by an eye patch.
"Chael? What are you staring at back there, it's going to be us next!" I turned back around too quickly, and my scarf fell, exposing my open neck. The two girls left right as I was about to bend down and grab it. I felt eyes burning into me from all directions, including Tyler Joseph's and Josh Dun's.
"Hi girls, nice to meet you! What are your names?" Tyler was the first to ask, before Josh recovered himself and asked the same thing. Breezy introduced us.
"Hello! My name is Breezy, and this is my best friend, Chael!" I smiled nervously as I fumbled with a blank page in my hand. I handed it to them to sign, and Breezy got out her Trench vinyl for them to do the same. After they were done signing, they got up to hug us. Had written a little longer than I expected but his message was clearer than ever.
Please don't give up.
"Enjoy the show, Breezy and Chael! Thanks for being our fans!" Tyler called out to us after we left.
We headed to the pit where we would spend the rest of our night jumping and screaming along to the music.
At a certain point, everything became fuzzy and unclear, but actions spoke louder than words.
Breezy at one point, leaned in and kissed me, right on the lips. She was completely sane, not drunk or high. She just went for it.
