"G'morning, Chael. Where's Margaret? She's usually here." Mr. Alexander asks me, and I paled instantly. Didn't expect that question so fast.
"She's at the hospital." I answer, before starting to move, but he stops me.
"Why?" Confusion along with worry is mixed in his features.
"She was thrown over the glass ledges on the second floor at Clearview Mall on Saturday, dislocated her elbow and cracked her skull open." I winced as I remembered the sickening crack that emitted from the fall. He nods slowly and lets me in.
The day continues like normal, but Helena is being swarmed with a bunch of questions about Margaret's whereabouts. She answers them all, and tells them the false story of how she saved her.
Coward.
You think you're special, huh?
But she didn't do anything! I don't even know where she was when Margaret was being thrown around like a rag doll.
Not everything is about you.
I huff in annoyance as the dismissal bell rings. I pack my bags unusually slow today, and Mr. Alexander has already locked the door, but making his way towards me.
"Do you know where Margaret's being hospitalized?" Odd, why would he want to know that?
"H-Howard Grace Hospital. Why?"
"Just going to pay her a visit. Are you going too or do you have plans tonight?" Oh. I already told my parents that I was going to visit Mar after school, so they agreed.
"Yeah. I'm taking the bus there." I reply.
"Cool. Actually, come with me. I don't trust you enough with the bus." I freeze for a moment. Power packing time.
We get in the car, and I make myself comfortable at the backseat. I pull out my earbuds and listen to some music.
"So... How did this happen, exactly?" Rub my nose, and then remembered that it was broken, and extreme pain hit me. I hissed, and he looked in the rearview mirror to look at me to make sure I was okay.
"You alright there?" He asks softly, and I nod, taking a deep breath.
"So basically Valerius, Ike, Kane, Margaret, me, and Helena all went to Clearview Mall to get some lunch and shop together, only we ended up splitting into 3 groups, Valerius, Ike and Kane, Helena and Margaret, and then me by myself." And then I muttered, "And spent like $110 on myself because why not."
"What was that?" Mr. Alexander laughed.
"Nothing. Anyways, Valerius joined me a little later, noticing me all by myself. So we shopped and talked for a while before going back to the rendezvous point where we saw only Ike and Kane. So then we walked around a little more to a gaming store, and there, on the second level of the mall, we saw Margaret. Long story short, she was thrown over the ledge, and I chased the person down, who turned out to be a person we knew and can I say, he hated our guts. So I tackled him, he kicked me in the nose, ultimately breaking in, and then I used the last of my strength to do a speed punch, where basically I just ran up to him and punched him really hard in the face. He fell to the floor, with my foot on his neck so I could break it if he tried to pull anything new, and then I waited for the police to arrest him. Oh yeah, I was also taken into questioning, and that was not fun at all." I finished, taking in one deep breath. He nodded, and pulled into the parking lot, parking, and then I led us into the building.
