Friday
Finally. Friday. It's always my favorite day of the week. I drag myself out of bed and make myself a simple fried egg. I never eat much so I get hungry in the middle of the day, which bothers me sometimes. I tidy up and get ready for school, while hiding the fact that I've taken my phone out with me. I make my way to school, with the cool morning air blowing in my face. After a few minutes, I reach my destination, with Kellain and Bella already there. Talking. I pull my hood down and make my way there, trying to shrink myself so I wouldn't be seen by them. I wasn't,t in the mood to be bothered by a bunch of morning questions, so when they asked me, I completely refused to answer any of them.
"Hey Chael, what do you think about aliens roaming around on the planet, watching us?" I growled, and try to get the uncomfortable numbing out of my head.
"Don't give a damn and never will." I sigh in frustration while rubbing forehead.
"Why? Aren't fascinated by them? By the thought even?" Bella questions. Again, I sigh and begin rubbing my face.
"What's fascinating is that you keep dwelling on scientific stuff that we can't even confirm if it even is true or just a farce." Bella and Kellain all sigh in defeat, knowing that my answer for them will not change. Then, Bella sparks up a new conversation. A little more interesting than the one before.
"Death isn't fair." She states simply. I roll my eyes at Kellain nodding at her opinion.
"Neither is life, but you don't see me complaining."
"Yeah, but death takes things from people. Everyday, it takes. And it never does anybody any good." I feel a spark of justice in my heart.
"Alright, so what would happen if you took death away?"
"We would be happy-." Bella starts, as Kellain nods at her statement.
"And we would be so sick, and stuck in constant pain, but you can't relieve it, y'know why? Because you took death away. You placed too much weight on the other side of the scale that you tipped it right over, causing a mess." I rant, as they frown. I sigh, because they would never be able to see what balance was.
"Just forget it." I sighed. They were completely hopeless.

I'm one of the first to enter our class, as our teacher waits by the door to greet us.
"Morning, Chael." I give him a quick nod and head inside, but he blocks my way by putting his arm out in front of the doorway. I look up at him, as my fingers trembled from anxiety.
"Come on. Say something!" He laughs. I try to talk but all that comes out is "N-N-No?"
He laughs again.
"Can I go now?" I whisper, anxiety taking the wheel now. Mr. Alexander let's us in, and I quickly hide my face with a book, too afraid to look at anyone in the eyes.
"Hey. Why are you cowering behind that book?" Harris asks, sitting down with a sigh. I glare at him, about to deny his question.
"Shut up. I'm not hiding." I grumbled at him. He shrug, and went back to whatever he was doing before.
We work again straight until the recess bell rings, signaling that it's recess. Everybody scrambles to get out of the class, except Bella, Margaret, and I. Push them out of the classroom though so we could have our 'Little Chat' as Breezy would call it. Our little trio head to the washroom, making sure that nobody was following us, before calling Breezy. She picks up instantly, and we begin.
"Hello?" Her voice traveled through the speaker of my phone.
"Hey Breezy. Here are my friends, like you wanted them-," I'm cut off by Margaret pushing me aside and taking the phone.
"Who is this? What do you want from us?" Margaret demands, a touch of concern is laced in her voice and features.
"Hey. My name is Breezy Ardion. Who am I speaking to right now?"
"Nobody of your concern."
"But it kind of is actually. My friend here is really upset because of how you treat her."
"How do you know? She's looks fine." Margaret snaps.
"Look at her now. Does she look happy?" Breezy retaliates. Bella and Margaret pause for a split second just to look at me. My eyes held sadness, fear, and insecurity.
"She... She looks fine to me." I can hear some pain in her voice, though I can't tell if it was real or not.
"You sound very unsure. Enough games. I gave you time to figure it out for yourselves. If I ever, ever hear another word about you again, I will make sure you regret spilling those words out of your pathetic excuse of a mouth. Am I clear?" Bella seems pretty shaken up. Margaret looks somewhat between being distraught and unsure if her threat was real or not.
"Hey, Chael. Take care of yourself okay? Oh, and good news for us, I'm coming to your area for the summer. Excited as hell man! See you then!" And then the call ended.
Bella turned on her heels and left the bathroom in a hurried rush, while Margaret asked if I could stay behind to chat with her for a while. Something she never would have asked since Helena came into her life.
"Chael. You've been lying this whole time, haven't you? Why can't you just tell us? Tell me!" And then I snapped. Like a dry twig in the cold, harsh winter.
"Don't you think I have? Do you know how much nights I've spent crying myself to sleep because I think I'm a faliure? Don't you think it hurts to know you've been replaced by someone who's know you for less than 2 years? Every day I try to convince myself that you wouldn't just abandon me, leave me. No. You chose Helena over me. Someone that's a manipulative bastard over someone who has known you for over 10 years, who's stuck with you through thick and thin. Who would go through hell and back to see you again. I always wondered what was so bad about me. Was I too violent? A bad person? Someone who wouldn't understand anything? A bad friend? Don't you think it hurt to know that I wasn't good enough for anybody?" She didn't say anything. Only looked at the ground in shame.
"Do you really want me here?"
"I-I..."
"You've always been pretending infront of me, and behind me, haven't you?"
"You are my best friend, I swear." But her voice is barely above a whisper.
"You don't have to lie." My voice quivers a little.
"I swear. Please. Don't leave me." She whispers again.
"Then why." I ask.
"Because Helena is a manipulative person."
"You should have thought twice before making the judgement that she would only be harmless. Or siding with her." I state as the bell rings. I start walking to the exit but a hand grabs mine before I can open the door.
"Please," she begs me. "Don't leave me." I loosen my hand from hers. You chose this path, and I chose mine. I exit the washroom and all I can hear is some faint crying, as my own tears spill from my eyes.
Later in the day, Val walks up to me and greets me. Strange, since he usually never does that.
"Sup man. I was wondering if, uh, you'd like to hang with us at the mall a couple streets down tomorrow." He scratches his neck, and I swear on my grave that he was blushing.
"Uh, depends on what time. I have martial arts in the morning tomorrow." I reply as casually as I can without bursting out in excitement.
"It's at 11."
"Cool, I'll be there, though I might run a little late."
"Oh, that's fine. You want me to pick you up or..?" He trails off before he even realizes what he had just said. I laugh a little, and he does too only more nervously.
"Sure. Be at the library down the street at 10 AM sharp." He nods, and leaves. I smile to myself.
Maybe things will get better.
