"You didn't tell anyone. Smart. But also dumb. If you knew that you were suffering, then why would you keep it to yourself and act fine?" Boots was in an all-black room but she could tell that the voice belonged to Hades. She couldn't speak either. Boots wanted to scream and beg for help, but her voice was completely gone. "Oh, yeah. You can't speak this time because you annoy me. Also, someone from your past has agreed to join up with me. Even though I'll kill her later because she's alive. But putting that aside, I have decided that I will go easy on you. Just until I'm ready. Don't get used to it..." He started laughing at the end and the floor fell, causing Boots to fall into a deep hole.
Boots woke up and looked around her room. No one was there and she was in her normal house on the island. Of course, it was another dream. She did wake up at the right time though. Three thirty in the morning! A little bit earlier than usual but she had something that she wanted to do. And she didn't feel like getting questions two seconds after she wakes up. She put on some comfortable clothes. The clothes she chose helped her move around more and were much more comfortable than her old outfits.
She walked outside and began to run, her limp faintly showing. She climbed up a tree in order to jump to a different tree branch. Boots sat down on the branch and looked out into the forest, taking out the camera that she took from Molly before they got off of the boat. Hanging upside down on the branch, she took a picture of a deer next to its fawn. She took the picture with them touching noses but once she took the picture, they obviously left and she sat back up on the branch. She stared at the picture and smiled. So that's what a real, loving family is like. Boots had nothing else to do, so she began to look through the pictures that Molly took. The first picture was of her on Derek's back when they were playing in the trees. Molly was a pretty good photographer.
The second was of them when Boots jumped off the building and Derek was supposed to catch her but he tricked her so she fell on her back. The third was of Derek and Boots looking out the window at the sunset with Boots' head resting on Derek's shoulder. The fourth was at the beach. There were many other pictures but she didn't feel like looking at them at the moment because while staring at the fourth picture, she thought about how much she has been mean to Derek when the only thing he's tried to do is help her. She felt like she was the villain and that he wasn't. Maybe she did feel backstabbed, but could he really be on someone else's side? He was being really sweet to her and he always went out of his way to help her. Whether it's pushing her out of the way of arrows, saving her from weird and creepy people, or just listening to her, he's always been on her side. She never realized it until now.
One question has been on her mind for a few days though. Why was it so hard to stop loving someone? Randomly, the tree shook, so she stood up, startled. She put the camera in the pocket of her jacket and held onto a small dagger that she took from the guard tower. The tree shook again. She stood on the branch and someone in a black hoodie jumped down with a dagger that was the same as Boots'. They began to fight on the singular branch, Boots walking back towards the edge of the branch. She made one small, wrong step on a small branch, causing the branch to snap at the end. Boots fell, slightly screaming, knowing that there were no branches under her and they were really high up.
The hooded figure reached down and caught Boots' hand right as she fell so Boots looked up seeing that the guy underneath the hoodie was Derek. "Careful." Derek pulled her back up and she started hitting him on the head. "Why did you do that?! I could have died!" Derek slightly smiled. "But you didn't. I was just making sure that you were prepared for any type of attack. Which you were, but you failed because you fell off. Also, that dagger does not belong to you." Boots sighed and she handed him the dagger back. "I was just looking at Molly's pictures and I wanted to be safe while doing so." Derek pulled the camera out of Boots' pocket and looked at the four pictures that Boots saw, including the picture that she took.
Boots sat back down on the branch and stared down at the ground wondering something. "Derek? Would you ever turn against me?" Derek's head shot up and he stared at Boots. "Like, would you ever decide maybe that I'm not like Ava, or Tanya so you all turn against me and ignore me? Maybe even send me out to the ocean again so that you would never have to see me again?" Derek put the camera down and sat next to her. "What? No. Boots, why would I ever do that?" Boots looked at Derek. "I don't know. It was just a small stupid thought." Derek nodded and stood back up before Boots asked another question. "Could I, maybe, be lord again? I know that I quit that one time, but I didn't mean it. I was just mad because you wouldn't believe me when I was telling you the truth. So, could I?"
Derek softly smiled again and held out his hand and Boots took it, standing up and letting go. Derek looked away. "I don't know. You kinda quit and I'm not sure if you're ready for it. Especially because you hit me on the head a few minutes ago and you yell at me a lot." He was teasing but Boots didn't get it. She got on her knees and put her hands in front of her face, begging Derek. "Please, Derek! I'm sorry! I know that I've been extremely rude lately when all you've been trying to do is help me out and you've saved me from so many things! I'm so sorry! Please let me be lord again!" Derek looked at her with wide eyes. "Calm down. I was just messing with you. You can be lord again. Welcome back to the crew." He smiled and Boots stood back up, hugging him. "Thanks, Derek!"
The camera then fell off of the branch and Boots quickly let go and made a weird noise. A grey wolf ran over to the camera as fast as it could and grabbed the camera lightly with its teeth. Boots let out of sigh of relief and jumped down from the branches, taking the camera from the wolf. "Good boy, Dolph!" Derek came down confused. "I didn't know we had a wolf on the island."
"Of course you didn't! He felt like you would hunt him down so he hid from you all, eating fruit and drinking from the river every once in a while. He's pretty smart. He's the only wolf on the island and he managed to hide from you guys this entire time. His parents were on the island too, but they ended up abandoning him because he was albino by swimming away when he was a just a cub." Derek nodded and he walked up to the wolf, seeing Boots pet him over and over again. "Well, we better return the camera to Molly before she freaks out." Derek agreed and they walked towards Molly's house.
"Molly! We have your camera!" Molly walked out in shorts and a flannel and took the camera. "I've been looking for that!" Molly started looking through the pictures and saw the picture of the deer. "Wait. Did you guys take this?" Boots smiled. "Yeah. Derek took it before they ran away. That's an amazing picture!" Derek looked at her confused. "I didn't take that, you did." Boots looked at him and sighed. "Okay, maybe I did take that picture but it was an all natural one. Zoolingualists have an aura that basically tells the animals that I am a zoolingualist. My aura is different and it only comes on at 4 am. This picture was taken at 3 am so the deer didn't know that I was a zoolingualist and I didn't talk to it. You're welcome." Boots smiled widely and Molly was completely confused. She was that happy that she took a picture?
"Why are you so happy?" Boots softly squealed. "Derek allowed me to be lord again!" Molly then squealed too and they began hugging. They began talking for a while until Boots went to go say hi to everyone again. "Tanya!" Tanya walked over and smiled. "Hey! Are you feeling better? With the falling off the boat thing?" Boots nodded. The began to talk for a bit until they moved onto the rest. Aiden, Tom, Adrian, Daniel, and Myra. Once they spoke to everyone, Boots decided to go back to bed, seeing as talking to people took up the entire day.
