17. Darwin Again

"I can't wait until I can work with you" Sergeant Petricopv said as I exited the plane, "I will be a fighter pilot thought sergeant"I said, "I don't think we'll meet much". then he said "I am an air traffic controller, I was just posted here, I think we'll meet again." I unloaded my motorbike from the back of the plane and set off from the Darwin Air Force Base.

When I got home, the door was locked, so I entered from the garage, I took off my helmet and went inside. All the lights were off, and all the windows were closed, "hello?" I asked into the darkness. I called Kennedy who didn't pick up, so I called Vexera, she picked up and said "You have reached the Sawec household, how may I help you?" 

"Vex, it's me, Carl" I said

"hows Brisbane?" she asked 

"I'm not in Brisbane, I am at home."

"Shit," I heard on the other line "I'll be right over, don't move and please don't turn the lights on" she said. I hear knocking and I said "It's unlocked Vex, Tell me whats going on." Vex opened the door and she was panting and puffing. "well, *gasp* we were planning a surprise party, I was *gasp* put on decorations, while Kennedy and your little brother *gasp* were getting food."

"well, I can leave for a couple of days" I nodded in Vexes' general direction, and she said "sure, you can stay over for a couple of days" she said "get out though, they might be back any time now." I remember the second song that we sung on our first 'date', something unpredictable, but in the end its right, I hope you had the time of your life, going to the RAAF base Amberly was unpredictable, but I think that it will turn out just fine.

I knoked on Lynns' door, when she opened it, she hugged me, "I thought that you would never come back, what did the Warrant Officer say?" she said, finally letting me go "well," I said, regaining my breath "he offered me a spot for intensive fighter pilot training". Lynn almost fainted. "you? In a multi-billion dollar jet, in Darwin?"

"yeah, just about" I said

"I can't wait until that happens"

"Well, it says I have to complete a two month training course in Wagga Wagga"

"Where is that?"

"in the lower half of New South Wales"

"how are you going to get there?"

"I will stay true to the Air Forces name, and fly there. Get my hours up and I can fly with up to four other people" I said "but don't start packing. I leave at the end of year 12"

"and here we are thinking that we planned you a surprise party"

I smiled and said "how long until I can leave?" Lynn looked at me and said "two days, we are notifying that you are going to be here early. So I camped out at Lynns' for a couple of days. "I'm going to the defence force" I said.
