35. Before Hell

We finish up the game and go back inside, "That was way more fun than I was expecting to have" I say to Vexera, hanging up my soaking parka outside and step in, any leftover snow melts almost instantly as the heaters were on in the reception. When we finally get inside our apartment, my face feels numb, I tun to Vex who instantly laughs at me, I look in the mirror and see my tongue hanging out, I slap my face to get feeling back, it works and I go back out, Vexera was still giggling at the table. She looks up then looks a little surprised and goes back to neutral and says "sorry, I really need to get used to that", then I said "don't, I'll go back tomorrow".

We decide to go back outside to go to the shopping centre downtown, and due to it's recent happenings, it has been called the shopping Maul. We go there for the low traffic and leave because of high trafficking, this was a part of America nobody sees enough of, the low areas with slums scattered throughout, the stench was bad and when we went into the complex, we saw that the place was too far gone to do what we wanted, there were bullet holes in the plaster walls and tv screens. We decided on leaving almost as soon as we saw a splatter on the Burger King wall.

"Well, that was downright terrifying" Vex said before we got back into a rental car, were driving off when we saw another car speeding toward us, I pull over and wait for the car to pass, I hear the engine and put my turn signal on so I can get back on the road. Then I hear a crunch and we are thrown forward I step on the accelerate and go back in the direction of the hotel. I hear clapping come from behind us, then the back windscreen breaks and the car rears up to the left. I turn onto the highway and break down what just happened, I look at Vex and she was bleeding, from her head. I slam on the brakes and get her out of the car "Vex! are you ok?" I cried, she was unconscious. Her bleeding was originating from her ear, I covered it up with my shirt and saw a bloodstain on the back, I reach up to my left shoulderblade and touch it, a sharp stinging pain came from it, I couldn't move it without it hurting. I pulled out my phone and dialled 911 and said "hello, I would like an ambulance to come to my area please" the phone responded with "yes sir, stay on for a while so we can get your location, and an Ambulance will arrive shortly." they hang up meaning that they should be on their way. I turn to look at Vex again, still out cold. I assess the damages done to the rental. back window smashed and the back right tyre is blown. The ambulance arrives and takes us to the hospital for an overnight stay.
