The next town Oliver and Evelyn arrived at was made mostly out of stone. The streets were barren and everyone was hiding in their homes.

“Whats happened here?” Evelyn wondered as the pair strolled along the quiet roads. They found a cart which held water bottles.

“I got this” Oliver said. He motioned for Evelyn to stay put and she did.

He dashed quietly over to the cart and snatched two bottles. No blades, hands, traps, or anything to kill him.

He dashed back to Evelyn and tossed her a water bottle. They drank for several minutes before strolling down the streets again.

A pair of Evergreen soldiers popped out of a nearby street corner. Oliver felt a rush of hatred for them since they supported the being that made him kill the innocent couple. He threw his water bottle with all his might and hit one soldier in the face.

“Jerks” he called out. He grabbed Evelyn’s arm and ran the opposite direction. They dodged a spear and Evelyn chucked a fallen banana at the enemies.

They dashed along more corners and tried to lose their opponents. The knights kept up easily and it looked like they would ketch up with them.

“Crap” Oliver said as a spear cut his leg. Red replaced the white fabric that the spear cut. He tried to keep running but a knife projectile cut threw his shoulder. He could tell where that knife was supposed to hit.

Evelyn picked up the fallen knife and spear and stood in front of her wounded friend. Oliver was bent on his knees, ribbing off fabric off his jacket to mend the wounds, temporarily.

One of the knights threw a knife at Evelyn but was hit it out of the air with a twirl of er spear. She charged up to the knights and used the spear like a staff and knocked them out with grace, speed, and twirling hair.

She crouched beside Oliver.

“Do you need my help?” she asked. He shook his head. He stood up, shakily, and the pair continued on.

“Do you know where the map is?” Oliver asked. She fumbled around in her pockets and found know map. “It doesn’t matter”.

They walked for many more hours and still did not find another town.

“I guess were lost” Oliver said, gloomily.

“Don’t give up” Evelyn hissed. She whipped her head around, searching for any strangers who might help.

Oliver turned just in time to see a young boy. “Hey” he called.

The boy stopped in his tracks and dashed towards him. He was rib thin, dirty, and had uneven hair and tattered clothes.

“Do you know where the next town his. Where on a path to Big town but we lost our map?” Oliver asked. He clutched his shoulder as another burst of pain exploded threw is skin. The brown leather was stained with dried blood, just like his pants.

The boy nodded and lead them threw a narrow pathway and several more places they had overlooked. They reached a gate.

“This is it” the boy said and then ran off. Night had fallen.  Oliver took and few steps back. Then he ran as fast as he could and cleared the fence. He landed on his wounded shoulder and yelped.

Evelyn did the same but landed on her feet. She helped him up and the pair sneaked threw the town and found Oliver’s first home.

He slowly opened the door and his mouth dropped open after he saw what was inside. Tears raced to his eyes and fought their way down his face.

In the middle of the wooden house were two black coffins.

He remembered the note the knights had left years ago about taking his family and when he would see them again.

Evelyn’s blue eyes became a real ocean after she saw what Oliver had seen. She never knew his family but she knew he wanted to reunite with them. Then she realized something.

“There are only two coffins. You had three family members” she announced.

Oliver was crouched with his tear stained face pressed against one of the coffins. He looked up as he heard her thought.

“It’s your decision if you want to look” she added.
