Erica looked down at Johan. Strangely, he had collapsed in a position where he was directly under her, in between her feet, and facing up. Meaning, of she was wearing a skirt or anything of the sort, he would be looking directly at her undergarments. Fortunately, she was wearing track shorts, and he had collapsed, so his eyes were closed. Therefore, well, peeking wasn't going to happen.
Erica called 911 and they said that an ambulance would arrive shortly. However, they said she would have to carry him to the roadside, as the ambulance was kind of far away and that it could not go in the sand. Erica thanked the operator, hung up, and lifted Johan up into her arms.
Erica grunted. "I thought this was a man's job. Alex was right. Johan is fat. I can barely even carry him, much less walk to the road from here. Dang it." With that, Erica began her voyage to the road; more specifically, Kapoho Coast Road*.
The 750 feet to travel felt like the longest three-quarter kilometer that she ever had to travel. What should have taken at maximum five minutes took (with the extra weight and texture of the sand) almost 15. At the end, Erica was sweaty and panting heavily from the unexpected, and frankly, unwanted, workout.
The ambulance was already there by the time she arrived. The crew laid him out on a stretcher. One of them, a tall, presumably African man walked up to her, and gave her a report on Johan's condition. "He is in a very critical condition. His chances of returning to even a conscious form are minimal, due to all the water he somehow lost. He is also low on oxygen. Currently, as you have probably predicted, he is unfortunately in a coma. I apologize if this shocks you in any way. Now, please, if you will, step inside the ambulance with us, and quickly, if you please."
Erica was speechless and utterly dumbfounded. She was on the verge of crying for her annoying, but whom she nevertheless loved, brother. With her words, she stuttered. "Y-yes, I will."
With that, she hopped in the trunk, next to her unconscious brother. Suddenly, she felt a uproar inside her similar to the feeling that Johan described on the plane. She instantaneously tried to open a skillset. It worked. She had a skillset. Erica's jaw dropped. For a second, she forgot about her brother.
Her skills were Crazed Strike and Fighter Body. Thus, she also had EP, but it functioned differently. She also can upgrade her abilities, but not herself directly.
Her EP functioned like this-instead of using the chemical energy in her body, she uses "fighting energy"; which, is simply, energy required to perform skills; thus, since it does not require chemical energy, if she uses it all up, she won't face the same consequences as Johan did. It does regenerate, at 7 EP/hour, and has a capacity of 150 points.
Unfortunately, at that moment, there wasn't anything that she could do to help Johan, but at the very least, she had some rad superpowers.
They arrived at the hospital, and quickly. They had Johan escorted to the emergency room. Erica was told that Johan had low levels of water, torn muscles and tendons, which he probably got from carrying her, very little chemical energy in his bloodstream, which caused his organs to be incapable of functioning at their highest potential, and his heart was not beating very stably.
However, Erica knew that if Johan could pull through, he would recover very quickly because of his EP recovery skill. She learned about it while she was in his Inventory. So, she simply hoped that his current symptoms wouldn't kill him.
Erica was sitting next to Johan, in the emergency room. She was reading a fantasy novel. Inside her head, she was constantly in a stage of hope and anxiety, and never in a serene state. That is, until Johan woke.A/N:*This is a real road. It exists.
