"So how did I get here?" Johan asked.
"Well," Aaron began, "you were unconscious on the ground. From Eliza's testimony, you were going at around 600 miles an hour. We noticed you had The Ability when you and Erica transferred here, so we kept tabs on you, which is how we knew about some of your powers. We also measured your weight and height. 155 lbs, 5 feet 8 inches. The force of you hitting the wall should've already been enough to kill you-approximately 1400 lbs. Your leg received the majority of the blow. But when you hit the ground, you felt enough force to outweigh (in terms of gravity's effect) the heaviest car by over 4.6 times.
"We didn't expect you to be able to walk, obviously, so we carried you to a guild hospital. Fortunately, though ridiculously, you are fine now. You really are an overpowered fantasy main character."
Johan responded. "Hey, no fourth wall breaks! Also. I'm not generic at least. Getting back to the point, thanks for answering my question."
Erica smirked. "You are generic. Being OP is one thing, but being bland and having no personality? That's another."
Johan rolled his eyes. "Again, no fourth wall breaks. Now, back to what I wanted to say. Can I join your guild? It'll help me be less depressed. Even though me being an absolute monarch for a couple days and my training paying off was a little uplifting, I still have a bad case of insecurity."
"Sure, of course! Please do. Please-"
Johan interrupted Aaron mid-sentence. He narrowed his eyes. "You're desperate, aren't you?" he said, growing suspicious.
"N-no. It's not like that all!" Aaron responded, stuttering.
"Listen. I'm not stupid. I'm not deaf either. I can see your eyes dilating. I can hear you stuttering. I can see you looking to my right. I can see you sweating. Come on, let's hear it. Why are you so desperate for new members?" Johan inquired.
Lily was the one to respond. "Guilds were the products of fear. Fear that Ability users would grow anarchist and out of control. But lately, things haven't been going so well. Guilds have some private marketing, but they are mostly government funded. The government gives more funding to bigger and more powerful guilds, which results in smaller ones going bankrupt, and medium ones becoming easy prey for criminal guilds and Globalous. In case you didn't know, Globalous is a terrorist organization that currently has control over the chemical that modifies genomes to grant The Ability. They are coming very close to a weapon to mind control Ability users, and a successful prototype that was launched a year ago was only cancelled because it had a few faulty components and a minor design flaw.
"The big ones then compete for the most government funding and then corrupt each other with spies and false representation. As the oldest and one of the biggest guilds, we are the second to last surviving non-criminal guild, with the other one being the Sun Guild."
"Impressive knowledge. I commend you for the mini speech of yours. Anyway, I also have an end goal, and we think the guild can help with that," Johan said.
"Which is?" Aaron asked.
"To become the overpowered generic main character harem king!" Erica teased.
"No! Geez, would you let me finish? Also, how many times do I have to say no fourth wall breaks? We're not supposed to know that we are in a book! Anyway, my end goal is to destroy The Ability." Johan stated, satisfied that he finally got to finish.
Everyone was silent for a minute. Aaron broke the silence. "Why?"
"Well, if we didn't have The Ability, we wouldn't have Globalous in the first place, would we?" Johan asked.
"That's like saying if we didn't have people, we wouldn't have global warming," Sarah pointed out.
"You just said something that was true," Johan said, with a disappointed look on his face.
"But this is different. People misusing The Ability is what caused this disaster."
"So what am I supposed to do, wipe out humanity?" Johan asked, now slightly annoyed.
"Okay okay, I understand. But how do you plan on doing that?" Sarah asked, utterly confused.
"We can deploy a chemical into people that have The Ability that negates the effect of The Ability's chemical," Johan suggested.
"You realize you have to do this before Globalous activates mind control..." Eliza said.
"We can just stall Globalous," Johan said, countering her argument.
"Also, how are you going to get people to help you? You realize many people cherish superpower, don't you?" Aaron asked, bewildered by Johan's idea.
"I do too."
"Then why would you delete something you like?"
"I never said I would delete it."
"You lost me."
"Okay, here is what I am planning to do. Stall Globalous from creating their mind control weapon. Along the way, gather intel about the weapon, all the while stopping the schemes of Globalous members and allied terrorists. When the chemical is ready, test it. Start mass producing it. Where they store the chemicals for The Ability, dump it into there to make the chemical diffuse with our chemical. They should cancel out. Assuming Globalous has remote control over a chemical that is inside our bodies, which is scientifically impossible, then we can safely assume that the chemicals inside our bodies have some sort of communication device within them. When the liquids cancel out, we'll be safe knowing that no one else can get The Ability unless Globalous bothers to make more.
"If they do, we can keep canceling the chemicals out. To make sure they will run dry in their treasury before we do, we can hack into it and put our chemical costs on their treasury. If they don't, we can start distributing the chemical (which we will still do if they do) and injecting Ability users with it. When no one can use The Ability anymore, we can easily destroy their mind control weapon, force them to disband, suck all our chemicals out of The Ability chemicals, make sure no entity has control over The Ability, and then we can use it again. And if anyone decides to become a terrorist, we'll be there to stop them."
Everyone nodded. However, Johan left out a few key details. First, Ability users would become contained as no new person that has no direct connection to an Ability user would obtain it.
Also, for The Ability to even activate, a trigger is required, and those who lead uneventful lives tend not to experience activation, which contains Ability users further.
Finally, Johan knew that someone could very well discover or create a new way to grant superpower. In fact, someone could regain control over The Ability.
He left these out because, one, he didn't want to seem like he wanted to eradicate superpower (even though he did), and two, he didn't want to disappoint his possible future friends.
"So, when do I get to join the guild?" Johan asked impatiently.
