Erica was not eager to ride a plane again. After the crash, she was aviatophobic. Even the sight of planes flying made her uneasy. However, Johan, being able to fly, didn't have this fear at all; in fact, he was slightly hoped that the plane would crash again. And so, naturally, because of her irrational fear, he teased her about it.
"Well, if it isn't Ms. I-Am-Scared-of-Flight," Johan teased, snickering.
"Screw off, nerd," Erica retorted, annoyed.
"At least I'm not an airhead," he responded, now starting to laugh.
"Not another word from you, sumo wrestler," she said back, now on the verge of infuriation.
"Okay, tomato."
"You take that back! I am not blushing! And if I am, it's your fault that you made me mad!"
"Hm? I couldn't here you. Speak up, I dare you."
At this point, they were at the airport security line, and if she did fall for his taunt, TSA security would probably come after her. She was smart enough to know that.
"Not now. But Johan, later, you will pay."
About an hour later, they were headed for the gate. The plane would start boarding soon. Johan took out his phone to show the lady his e-boarding pass, only to find his phone completely doused in water and a crack on the screen. Johan dropped his phone and gritted his teeth. This time, Erica snickered.
"Oh no, boo hoo. It seems like Mr. I-Love-Planes can't go on one today. How unfortunate." Erica said, sarcastically.
Johan frowned. Then he started laughing. Johan smashed the phone with his fist. Johan felt relieved. It was only the fake one, he thought to himself.
Erica raised her eyebrow. Then, Johan took the other phone from his pocket and turned it on. Then he blew a raspberry at Erica. "Seems like Mrs. Airhead forgot that one of the phones was a fake. You probably have an arranged marriage with ignorance at this point."
Erica was fuming at this point. I fell for my brother's taunting again! I can't believe it, she thought.
The plane ride was a pleasant one. Nothing scary, nothing too unusual, pretty much your average business class plane ride. It was long, as it was an international one, but that didn't really matter to the siblings. So long as the plane didn't crash, they were set.
The airport was kind of hectic. There were many people, among which there were clearly Ability users. And not just a few; Johan spotted at least 30 strangers that probably had the Ability. He could tell because Malicious Aura Detection could also detect Ability users, and even if he didn't have the skill, he could sense some peculiar aura coming from them. Erica noticed them too-but she could only tell because of family connections. At this point both of them had figured out that their parents and most of their friends were were Ability users.
At this point, it was 8 in the night at Incheon International Airport. Johan and Erica were improving their abilities in the lavatories inside of the plane. And very extensively too. Johan noticed that even without SP his stats were increasing on their own on a curve, with Intelligence increasing the fastest and Strength not increasing at all. Also, he noticed that the system could generate an unlimited amount of skills-some shared between Ability users, some unique to the user.
Johan focused on upgrading his current abilities. Noticing all his possible powers had something to do with gaming, electricity, or air, he focused on trying to create new and evolve existing powers of these types. His gaming skillset consisted of Gamer's Body, N.E.E.T. Apathy, and Game Curve; respectively, they gave him the ability to have a game-like body in real life, have little care about any persuasion, politics, etc., and the ability for stats to increase on their own.
Malicious Aura Detection, and it's evolution, Clairvoyance, were the only odd ones out. The first allowed Johan to detect malice, and the second allowed him to observe any factor to a point about a person.
Thunder Wave, Battery, Breaker Box, and Bolt Strike were his electric skills. In order, Thunder Wave allowed AoE attacks and paralysis, Battery allowed electricity to be stored and released, Breaker Box allowed him to control current remotely, and Bolt Strike allowed the use of electricity as a projectile.
Erica mainly focused on upgrading the Crazed Skills because she knew her powers were much stronger but in turn evolved much more slowly. Crazed Fist did manage to evolve into Manic Fist, however. Manic Fist made her fist surrounded in electrical fire. It did much more damage, and it was faster and stronger. But, it was much more physically and EP-wise demanding than any of the Crazed attacks.
You'd think they'd be tired at the airport. Erica was, but Johan wasn't, due to his EP and HP being connected to his life force, which made them double edged swords. On one hand, he can recover insanely quickly, but on the other, he can drain himself faster than others if he isn't careful.
The school drove them to their grandmother's house. It was a long drive, and both of them fell asleep. When they awoke, they were lying in bed next to each other. Johan was the first to react.
"The heck is this?!" he hollered, very embarrassed and surprised.
"I was going to say the same thing!" Erica said, blushing furiously.
Johan practically flew off the bed and started unpacking his things quickly as if nothing had happened. Erica did the same. They ate a quick dinner, thanked their grandma for it, and went to bed in separate rooms.
