Safety Blanket

When Chay and Kade got to school everyone was making over her. Kids she didn't even know was asking how she was feeling and giving her gifts and balloons. She almost forgot how everyone knew what happened , but she quickly remembered the story aired on the news a few weeks ago, and of course word to mouth news.

By the time lunch rolled around Chay thought the gifts and well wishes were over ,but once she walked into the cafeteria she smelled sweet chocolate cake and warm, cheesy pizza. There was a huge Welcome Back!! sign above the lunch line with hundreds of signatures around the huge letters.

She was in total shock. Chay wasn't aware that everyone cared for her so much.

A couple of kids she was in Spanish 1 came up to her and hugged her.

"Thank you guys so much", she told them gratefully. They brought her into the cafeteria and brought her to her regular table where her, Kade , Morgan , Donovan , Caleb , and Westyn used to sit ever since their freshman year...

"You know what? How about we switch it up and sit at a different table?", Chay said looking up at Kade who was standing next to her.

"Uh babe , there is no more tables. All of them are full", he said already knowing why she didn't want to sit there.

"Okay" , Chay simply said starting to have so much anxiety her heart began to race. All of her good and bad memories came flooding back in her mind that had happened at this table.

Chay and her best friends were sitting at there favorite table in the cafeteria. When everyone started eating , she noticed that a guy from her English class was sitting by himself.

She got up and walked up to him. He was very surprised someone was actually acknowledging that he was in the room.

"Hi ,I'm Chay. Do you want to come sit with us? We have plenty of room" , she said motioning at their table. He lit up like a Christmas tree and nodded his head. She brought him over to their table, and everyone was okay with it except for Westyn. Being Westyn he said,

"Uh what makes you think you can bring people over here?" , Westyn could be the biggest smart ellic sometimes, she thought.

"Excuse me?" , Chay said thinking bringing a new friend over wouldn't bother him.

"This was my table first", he said with a smug look on his face.

"Screw you Westyn, c'mon sit down. What's your name?" , Chay asked ignoring her arrogant friend.

"Oh it's Michael"

"Chay", Kade said bringing her back from her daydream. "You remember Michael , don't you?"

There was a tan , dark haired boy that was about 6 feet tall, was standing at the head if their table.

"Yes , please sit", Chay said happy to see him once again. She hadn't seen him since middle school. They all talked for the rest of the lunch period. They filled him in on everything that happened.

"Wow. Oh my God, Chay I'm so sorry all of that has happened to you" , Michael said giving her a hug.

"Thank you" , she said while hugging him back.

"If you need anything please let me know", he said genuinely.

He looked down at his phone to check the time, "Look I gotta go, my next class starts in a few minuetes. Chay it was great seeing you again. Kade as always bro I gotcha back", Michael said giving Kade a bro hug.
