Chapter 13 - My Mistake
Luke's POV
I watched the lamp I just threw shatter on the ground in my bedroom. I kneeled down on the ground because my knees sabotaged me and didn't seem to want to work with me anymore. I didn't blame them. I wouldn't want to help me either because of what I just did.
GO BACK. GO BACK OR I WILL, LUKE.
I knew he was right, I needed to go back and make this right but how could I face that beautiful girl again? I didn't want to reject her. I just got so angry when I saw that...that guy in her bed.
LUKE, IF YOU DON'T GO BACK THERE AND APOLOGIZE RIGHT NOW I WILL RIP YOU TO SHREDS AND YOU KNOW I WILL. I WILL KILL US BOTH.
It's true, I knew he would, but I needed to clear my head of the rage I was feeling. I couldn't go back without a clear head. That's what got me here in the first place. I grabbed a hold of my hair and tugged. This was how I calmed down. I guess pain just brings me back to my clear state. When I was finished and I deemed myself fit to leave my room. ( Calm enough that I won't kill everyone in the house.) When I removed my hands I had a fist full of hair. I went to the bathroom, connected to my room, and threw the hair in the waste basket. Before leaving I looked at my reflection you couldn't tell I had just ripped out half of my hair thanks to how thick the mop of black on my head was.
When I knocked on Cadrian's door there was nothing. I pressed my ear against the door. I couldn't even hear breathing. Oh, she must be making dinner. I thought to myself.
I made my way down the stairs and to the mess hall. I was greeted by a few faces along the way but other than that I was not spoken to at all, probably due to the expression I was most likely wearing. My mom had always said I constantly had this intimidating look on my face. It was an uncaring scowl. I remember her words loud and clear.
-Flash Back-
"The only time you don't wear that scowl is when you are thinking about that Cadrian Stone girl."I gave her a look that showed I had no idea what she was talking about but she saw right through it. "Now, now, don't play dumb with me! I know she's your mate!"
I was amazed. Leave it to my mother to know everything about you even before you realize it yourself. "How?" I asked.
She rolled her eyes at me and said "Well, it's a little hard to miss, Luke." I honestly didn't know how she picked up on it. She rolled her eyes again and told me, "Luke, my god! You stare at her like your eyes are glued to the poor girl! And don't even get me started on that smile you get when you get to talk to her about pack business and such!" I guess I was loving her unconsciously this whole time..." I know your father doesn't approve because her parents were...ya know..He believes it was her and that Arron's fault..." She took my hand and told me, "She's your mate. And it's not your father's choice. Tomorrow is her birthday, get her something nice."
-End of flashback-
I had finally reached the kitchen in which I assumed to find her, I mean it was her night to cook. I pushed through the door and made my way to the middle of the room. She was no where in sight...
I couldn't even pick up her damn scent!
"Shit." I said under my breath. I immediately ran out of the building. It had started raining in between the moments I was in the mess hall so I was running through the mud and was absolutely soaked from head to toe. People looked at me like I was crazy and asked if I was alright. I knew it wasn't the alpha thing to do but, I just ignored them and kept running back to her dorm in the pack house. When I finally reached the door in the hallway I fumbled with a key ring which consisted of my car keys, a master key to the dorms, my own dorm key, a couple other miscellaneous things and finally I came to the black key on the ring, a copy of my mate's room key. I had it made shortly after I found out we were mates, just incase I had ever needed it in a situation such as this one.
I didn't waste anytime on trying the key. My hands were shaking so badly though, that I dropped the keys. "Fuck it." I kicked in the door. I looked over every inch of the bedroom.
Where the hell is our mate?!
I don't know boy, I don't know. I admitted to my wolf.
I also searched the bathroom and the closet, everything was gone. everything. I looked over to the dresser in the back of the room to find a little black box. It was the necklace I gave her. I shakily grabbed it, opened it and stared. It was gone. All that was left was the box.
I turned around ready to leave and search more when I noticed the big read letters across the white wall.
"Bye Bye Bitches, Love Cadrian," I read this out loud a couple times not quite believing it. Was she? Was She really gone?
My wolf answered me. Yes. Yes she is.
I kneeled down, still clutching the box, and screamed my lungs out.
