Chapter 19 - Stronger Without You
-1 year later-
Cade's POV
"Aw shit, Cade! Take it easy!" Trent said as I pinned him to the ground for the eighth time today. Trent and I had become great friends over the past year. He had started training me a week after Arron and I joined the pack. I was now a warrior wolf for the Rouge pack. Although they were just a bunch of rouges I still considered them my family.
"BAHAH THAT'S LIKE THE HUNDRETH TIME TODAY!!!!" Travis yelled between laughs.
"Oh shut up mutt." Trent said as he rolled us over so that he was on top of me.
"Okay get off my girl, Trent." Arron and I were still best friends but we are still together. We are still in love although it had lost some of the spark. Trent rolled off of me and layed on his back still panting a bit from our training session.
Arron offered me his hand and pulled me up and into his arms. I looked up at him and he took this chance to get in a quick peck. The quick peck turned into something deeper though. It turned into a passionate kiss that lasted for a couple more seconds than was necessary.
"No no...Not infront of me please!" Travis always had to ruin the moment. I glared at him playfully while pulling away from Arron. He reluctantly let go.
"Okay which one of you pups are next?" At that point both Travis and Trent ran for dear life. They knew I could kick both their asses with my hands tied behind my back and blindfolded! They were both bigger and stronger but my technique was absolutely perfect thanks to the daily training sessions.
I turned back to Arron, "Now where were we..." I pulled his neck down to my height so I could reach his lips.
Someone cleared their theoat right as it started to get heated.
"Oh not you too Eathan!" I screamed, "Why do you people always ruin the moment!" I pulled away once again from Arron and face the man with fire instead of hair. He was smirking. I smirked back and raised my eyebrow at him. I had also become great friends with Eathan. We had shared our stories and I had even told him about Luke.
"We are having a meeting if you would grace us with your precsense, that would be great."
"Agh fine." I said as I dragged both guys out of the forest and back to our campsite. When we got there Arron took his spot beside his teacher, the doctor. Arron had learned much from the man. He was ironically also named Arron but it was spelled like Aaron.
I also took my place with the other warrior wolves which consisted of Travis, Trent, and Kenneth. We were the second highest rank due to there not being a Beta, although Aaron was offered the position because he had Beta blood. He refused saying that his real passion was medicine.
The meeting started and Eathan informed us that we would be "visiting" a pack soon. By visit he actually means visit. I know what you were thinking, oh crap we are gonna wipe out the pack! But we really weren't. The Rouge pack wasn't like that. You shouldn't always believe rumors I guess.
Anyway, we were actually going to train the pack's wolves. There might be an up coming war with one of our allies and we said we wouldn't fight the war but we would help them out a bit. So, with that said the meeting ended and Eathan told us to get a good nights sleep because we would be traveling for most of the day tomorrow.
We did as we were told and we all headed to our tents. I was immediately wrapped in hugs and kisses from Aaron.
Somehow we ended up swaying as if we were dancing. Arron held me while whispering sweet things into my ear.
I pulled away so I could look into his deep brown eyes. "I love you, Arron..." I didn't really believe myself though. With that I shut my eyes and we continued to sway
-The Next Day-
Travis' POV
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to youuuuuuu!!!" I opened my eyes a bit. That was a mistake! The light stung my sensetive eyes. I sat there for another moment while someone kept singing that damn song. I finally opened my eyes to be met by a pair of beautiful blue ones. I looked around the room quickly making sure Arron was no where in sight. "Cade! Why the hell are you up so early?" I said groggily I wasn't a morning person and I knew she wasn't either. I was laying on my back and she straddled me and kept hitting me and jumping on me. I could barley keep my hard on down.
She was the first woman since my mate to have this affect on me. I didn't understand why she stayed with Arron. He would hurt her someday. He would find his true mate one day. And it would hurt her even more than that bastard, Luke. She could be with me and never worry about being heart broken again. True, she was older than me by almost three years. But It didn't look it. She was a tiny 19 year old (almost 20) while I was a 17 year old giant. She had told me about her mate. The same thing had happened to me. My mate rejected me for the alpha of our pack. Cliche right?
Ha anyway I have had feelings for her since the day I carried her through that forest almost a year ago.
"It's your birthday, silly! I had to be the first one to wish you a happy one." She stopped bouncing thank god. I pictured Trent naked and I quickly got back my control over...well ya know.
"Hmmm..." I looked up at her. She was a vision that I would never get tired of seeing..."you need punished for waking me up. You know I'm not a morning person." Her eyes went a little wide as she realized what I was planning.
"No, Travis, you wouldn't." She stated as she tryed to climb off of me. I held her in place by her hips and she squirmed a bit bringing back my little friend. I had to put a stop to this so I flipped us so she was under me and I started tickling her. She tried to squirm out of my grip but to no avail. She may be a good fighter, but I was still bigger than her and stronger.
"Trav...pleaseee..." Tears came to her eyes as she was laughing and screaming.
"Say you're sorry for waking me up, Cade." I said this while also laughing at the tiny girl.
"I...I'm Sorry!" She tried to get it out. I could barely make it out but I stopped tickling her and looked down at her, smirking. She was panting a little but still smiled up at me. My eyes traveled to her lips and her eyes traveled down my body. I was wearing nothing but my boxers. She trailed down every inch of me while biting her lip. She looked back into my eyes. I'm sure they were black by now, so were hers. I took the opportunity, not thinking and I kissed her. I kissed her with everything I had in me. I kissed her and poured all my heartbreak and all the love I had to give in that one kiss. I was the one that finally broke the kiss so that I could come up for air. She didn't look shocked at all. Like she wanted it just as much as me. She pulled me back down on top of her for a quick peck but then I'm guessing she thought of Arron because she stopped but didn't push me off of her. At that very moment someone barged into my tent. I didn't want to look at them, fearing it was Arron. I could feel the person taking in our comprimising position.
"You're gonna get yourself into a world of trouble, brother." I let out a sigh of relief and turned to Trent standing in the door. Cadrian sat up and looked down to the floor. "Please don't tell Arron." Cadrian barely whispered. I felt guilt rush over me. How could I do this to her? How could I put her in this position?
"Cade, if you don't tell him, I sure as hell will. You both are my friends but he's been my best friend since you both showed up here."
"Come on, it was just a kiss, Trent!" I all but yelled at him. How dare he.
"I'll take that as neither of you are going to tell him?"
I just looked down, not sure of what to say.
"No. You might as well run off and tattle on me." Cade had tears running down her face. I hated seeing her like this.
Trent just shook his head disapprovingly and left. I pulled on a pair of basketball shorts on and started to go after him but I was stopped by Cade's hands pulling me back to her.
"No, there's no point for you to rile either of them up. I'm gonna find Arron before your brother does." She gave me a small, broken smile and she left.
Goddammit. I already messed up my one shot at Cade's heart.
Cade's POV
I don't know why but I almost wanted Trent to tell Arron everything. I wanted free of our "contract". Becuase that's exactly what it felt like lately. Like I was being forced to love him although I stopped loving him in a romantic way quite while ago. I searched our tent but didnt find either of them so I decided to follow Arron's scent. It lead to where we were training before. I could hear Arron screaming before I actually saw him. When I finally got close enought I said.
"Arron..?" He whipped around, his eyes black as night. He came towards me, angrier than I have ever see him. He grabbed my shoulders tightly but careful not to hurt me.
"Did you kiss that son of a bitch?"
"Don't call him that."
"ANSWER THE DAMN QUESTION." I didn't know what to say. I didn't want to say anything so I looked down at my feet. He became agrier at my silence and yelled once more, "CADRIAN FREE STONE, TELL ME OR GOD HELP ME..."
"Hey let go of her. You're hurting her." Travis...he was gonna get himself killed. It was true he was hurting my shoulders. I knew I would have bruises.
"Arron...I don't love you how you want me to...You're still my best friend. That's all you will ever be..."
*BOOM* He punched me. I fell to the ground as someone tackled Arron. It was a silvery grey wolf with black limbs and ears. I recognized it as Travis. Arron shifted into his blonde colored wolf as well. We always avoided shifting due to hunters in the area. But right now was an exception. I shifted also, into my black wolf with Grey surrounding my limbs and my ears. I never thought about it before but, me and Travis's wolves were almost the same color except reverse and the fact that he was much, MUCH bigger than me. I nipped at Travis trying to get him off of Arron. He simply ignored me and continued to rough up Arron. It had been Travis who got my wolf to come back to me and I thanked him greatly for that but I couldn't let him kill Arron which, with him being the lead warrior wolf wouldn't be hard. So, I took a leap of faith, literally. I leaped onto Travis' back and rolled with him down to the ground off of Arron.
By that time, every member of the pack was present. Arron shifted and was quickly handed a pair of shorts before just as quickly being binded. Hitting a woman was a fellony that even werewolves didn't take lightly. All of Travis' weight was ontop of me. He noticed and quickly got off of me and shifted. He was also given a pair of basketball shorts. I however, ran to my tent. I wasn't about to be seen naked by any of them. I pulled on a clean pair of jean shorts and a clean, baggy tshirt.
Not a moment later, Eathan ran into my tent immediately inspecting my no doubt, purlpe and red face. Luckily the punch landed on my jaw and not my eye. My jaw would heel faster.
As soon as he was finished he asked, "What the hell was that...?" I knew tears were running down my face. "Shhh...you don't have to tell me. But its over with you and Arron isn't it?"
I let out a gut wrenching sob and nodded as best I could. He pulled me into a hug. "I'm so sorry, Cade." He pulled back and looked at me again. "There's someone that wants to talk to you." I expected it to be Arron ready to apologize. I was wrong though. It was Travis. I was relieved. I tried to conceal my tears but I just couldn't. He didn't say anything but he did stroke my jaw lightly. I flinched and let out another sob.
"I'm so sorry. I ruined everything." He stated looking away from me. I took his face in my hands and told him,
"It was already over. You just gave me the push I needed to get rid of him." I looked into his eyes. They were full of despair and love. "He would have hurt me eventually."
"If it weren't for me he wouldn't have punched you though." I smiled at him and pulled him down for a kiss.
