FINN'S POV
"Hit, it Jack!" I jumped with my electric guitar as the drums started playing.
For only half of the song, I lost my energy. I told my bandmates that we should maybe take a little break since we were practicing for five hours straight now. I'm also losing the inspiration to write more songs, and motivation to play my guitar.
Why on earth would this happen to me in the middle of our practice? Tomorrow is Calpurnia's concert and the day after that I'll be heading to Stranger Things for the season three shooting.
Oh well.
"It seems like you need to motivate yourself with something." Malcolm interrupted while I was drinking water.
"Or someone." Ayla winked at me and they began laughing like there's no tomorrow.
"Pfft, what do you mean, Ayla?" I snorted. "What do you mean? Ooh, you're clueless now." they continued giggling behind me but I still remained silent the fact that (Y/n) and I have no enough time to hang out because I'm busy.
I really have a hectic schedule, and she understands that.
Our last hang out was like five days ago. But it really feels years.
"What's with the faces? We're just friends. I don't like her...in that way."
"Yeah. You love her...in that way," Jack blurted. "Oh, please." they began laughing histerically and I was still out of place, somehow.
I snatched the water bottle beside me, taking a large gulp from it. I sat down beside my bandmates, on the staircases of the basement.
"It's not funny, guys. I'm serious."
"Ooh, serious Finn is here, huh?" but before I could stick out a tongue at Ayla, someone banged the door open. I look up to see (Y/n) in her most comfortable clothes that always made her cute.
"Hey..." I waved at her. She's currently holding a tray of freshly baked chocolate chip cookies.
"What 'ya got there, (Y/N)?" I heard my bandmates said. They all rushed towards her.
"Malcolm? Why do you have two cookies? That's supposed to be Finn's—" Malcolm already bit both of the cookies before (Y/n) could take it. "It's okay. I'm not really that—" my whisper was so inaudible that it didn't make (Y/n) react.
She took the last cookie from her tray instead.
"Here, Finn. Take this. I really don't need one. I have a lot of pastries back home. Mom baked all of them." she giggled.
It felt like years have passed; I'm not used to hear her giggle anymore. I've missed that - the days when all we did is to tell jokes and laugh maniacally.
"Ah, thanks." I smiled. I almost trip down the stairs if it wasn't for these three goofballs trying to push me towards her. Ayla nudged my arm and the two pushed me beside (Y/n). I nearly crashed to her face, making us look at each other awkwardly.
"Sorry..." I trailed off. "We'll leave you two lovebirds for a bit. Have fun Finn." Jack winked then sticks out a tongue.
"What a loser." I hit the back of his head which made him race upstairs. Ayla and Malcolm continued to squeal.
"Sorry for barging in. Mom told me to deliver the cookies so I have to. I know you're busy so I'm very so—"
"Nah, it's okay. I kinda missed you." I poked her cheek as she lays the tray on the table behind me. "Aww, that's so sweet of you, Finnie." she chuckles, engulfing me in a warm hug. "I kinda missed you too. I can't do anything at home so I'm very happy because I need to bring the cookies to your house." we laughed.
We sat down on the maroon couch from the corner. I ate the cookie in full mouth. I took my electric guitar where I laid minutes ago then played the strings slowly. The awkward silence roamed between us.
"Do you want me to teach you how to play the guitar?" I rose an eyebrow. "With that serious look on your face, it seems like you want to." she shakes her head then replied, "Not really. I just want to watch you."
I glance back at the strings with heat forming on my face. My heart is beating fast when she said that with a sweet smile.
Ayla's right. I only need (Y/n) to motivate me. I missed her so much that I can't even focus without my best friend.
"What song do you want?" she lays her head on my shoulder with a soft whisper of, "My kind of woman. My all time favorite."
"Okay." with that, I started playing the chords and singing the lyrics.
We both locked eyes with each other so I grabbed my opportunity to sing the song solely for her.
"You're my kind of woman."
