13. The Apology

I stepped into the high school building, unsure of what was going to happen today. Yesterday had been fun, but I felt super guilty for leading Allen on like that. My intention was to make Drew angry, but I had no idea if it had even affected him or not.

I just hoped that Allen was going through his usual phase with me. He usually forms a fascination with a girl and stays with her until he's interested. As soon as the girl starts boring him, he throws her away like a used napkin. I just had to find out what made me interesting to him and stop doing that...

Couldn't the dumb boy just find a nice girl and stick with her? Frustration seeped through me. Did he even care about me or was I just another accidental victim? Why was Allen so freaking hard to understand?

I had been almost sure Allen had become a reformed player while he was in his relationship with Maria, but I was disillusioned from that theory very quickly.

I pushed all thoughts of Allen out of my head and entered homeroom. Almost all the girls in my class were crowded around the back wall and starting at something with awed faces.

Curiosity got the best of me, and I walked over to see what was going on. Thousands of sticky notes covered the back wall, leaving no empty space. "I'm sorry" was written on every sticky note.

"Who did this?" I asked, breaking the awed silence. Girls turned around and stared at me. Okayy then...

Finally, Gia answered. "Drew did." She paused. "And he did it for you."

I stared at her uncomprehendingly. "This is for me?" I asked. Warmth filled my body as I stared at all the sticky notes.

"Yeah, Drew came an hour and a half early to do this."

My heart soared and a bright smile lit up my face. I felt like dancing. The bell rang then, ruining my plan of rushing over to the boys' homeroom.

The girls started returning to their seats. Random girls came up to me and filled me in about how I lucky I was and how jealous they were. Tiffany gave me a knowing look and asked me when we would admit Drew and I were dating, making me blush.

Mrs. Jones quieted the class and went to shut the door when Riya slid in, almost falling flat onto her butt.

"Sorry, I was in the library! I promise," Riya said in a breathy voice, her chest falling up and down due to the sprinting.

"Okay, sit down. You're usually one of the first girls here so I'll let it go...this time."

Riya nodded gratefully. "Thanks." She started making her way to an empty seat, but stopped mid-stride. "What the..." Her eyes widened in amazement and a soft smile formed on her face.

Mrs. Jones smiled and looked at me meaningfully. "So did you like his apology?"

I blushed and nodded. How did Mrs. Jones know this was for me!?

"You'd be surprised how much gossip the teachers know," Mrs. Jones said mysteriously, as if she had read my mind. She was about to say more, but the announcements started.

"Good morning," Mr. Schmidt, our principal, said tiredly. He barely sounded awake and his good morning was not very enthusiastic. He proceeded to tell us about the upcoming events, and I swear half the girls in the class fell asleep.

Suddenly loud music began blaring from the intercom, forcing Mr. Schmidt to stop telling us about today's early dismissal. Some girls jumped, while other girls woke up and blink confusedly.

"Hey guys," Drew said, making a couple of girls giggle in pleasure. I restrained myself from glaring at them. "I hope I didn't startle you, but I have something important to say."
