She's Not Lily (Harry Potter/ Severus Snape fan fic)

Ch. 5 "Get to know her."

(Severus's POV)

Lily l has been running through my mind all day. The old Lily I lost and the new one who came waltzing in the great hall a week ago. She is in every way, a perfect resemblance to Lily. The idiotic response to my calling her Ms. Evans in class several days ago has made me completely ignore her presence when she's in my classroom.
The strange thing about the "new" Lily is that I constantly feel her staring at me with her piercing green eyes. Like she is studying me or trying to figure out why I can't help but steal glances in her direction.
What amuses me so is that Potter is falling for Lily, like history is to repeating itself. Potter is exactly the same as his arrogant and weak father.
I couldn't take it anymore, I quickly made my way up to Dumbledor's office to discuss this situation with this Lily.

"Ah, Severus, I was beginning to wonder when you were to make your way up here," Albus stated.

"You knew?" I asked him, referring to Ms. Duchannes.
Of course, this old man knew. He always has a hidden agenda.

"Oh yes, Ms. Duchannes, When I first found her I was surprised," He began, "Muggle-born, born on January 30th, with red hair, and green eyes. Yes, it seems that she has every resemblance to young Lily Potter."

Just the sound of Lily's name made my heart ache with pain. I loved her, no I still love her with every bit of my heart. She was the only one who could bring out the good in me but she chose Potter. We could have lived a happy life together.

"Severus, I want you to get to know her." He stated while getting up from his big wooden desk.

"You can't be serious Albus, you know why I can't, she is a student if I need to remind you," I tell him while running my hand through my black greasy hair.

"Ah yes, I know Ms. Duchannes is just a student, but is she not much more Severus?" The crazy old man said.

Is this Lily Duchannes much more than just a student? She seems to have as much curiosity about me as I do about her. The way she studies me, it's like she can see every pain I have ever had and can fix it with just one look.

"I guess there is nothing wrong in getting to know her Albus, I can get her to be my apprentice on potions. She has the same talent Lily had." I say with amazement. "That is all I'm promising, you can't find many talents in the art of potions these days."

"Ah what pleasant news!" Albus said while walking back to his desk. "Maybe this will spark some happiness inside of you."

To fall in love with someone other than Lily? Something I would never think I would do. Lily had my heart even if she was.. gone. But this Lily Duchannes, is in every way Lily Potter, the looks, the potions desire, and the boldness. When she corrected me in class it shocked me, no one corrected me as she did, well all besides Ms. Granger and ugh Potter.

I began to leave Albus's office until he told me something that I haven't yet realized.

"She's not Lily, Severus, don't forget that. "
