The plane ride to London from New York seemed to take forever. I wasn't sure if it was because of my excitement or because this was my first taste of adulthood, but I couldn't wait to arrive. I wish I could complete my traveling after arriving at the airport, but the train ticket says otherwise. This leads me to the predicament I am now in.
I have walked up and down King Cross Station for almost an hour and still have not found platforms nine and three-quarters. When I questioned an officer at the train station, they looked at me and laughed as if I were joking. Walking back and forth seemed to be getting me nowhere, so I sat on a bench between nine and ten. It felt like I hadn't slept in a few days, and the jet lag was finally catching up. It was almost eleven, so I would have been late for the train if I hadn't found this platform.
As I was about to get up and call it quits, I saw twins running up, saying they would miss the train and saying something about Hogwarts. They have messy red hair and matching sweaters, except one has an F, and the second has a G imprinted on them. They must be my ginger guardian angels.
"Um, hello, could you two help me?" I ask before they run into a wall, even though it would be funny to watch.
They stop to look at me, then the twins look back at each other, and a sly smirk plays on their lips.
"Yes, of course, love,"
"It would be a pleasure to help a beautiful lady like yourself." the twins say in unison.
I have to restrain myself from laughing at them. They sound so in sync that they practice their monologues before they leave their house. As amusing as they are, I put on my polite face and try to stay calm.
"Um, yes, I need to know where platform nine and three-quarters are located," I told them.
Musical laughter fills my ears as the boys clutch their stomachs. They finally stopped laughing as they realized I was serious and that I was not amused.
"You are standing right in front of it; you run straight into the wall between 9 and 10." They told me together like it was something so obvious.
I look at them, waiting for them to start laughing because I suspect they are trying to make me run into the wall. They must have suspected so because one of the twins gripped their trolley and ran straight through the wall. I must have had a funny look because the twin left started laughing but quickly calmed himself because of the scowl I gave him.
"Well, go on then, or we will be late; I'll even go with you if you're afraid." He told me while smirking.
That's one thing I hate: when someone thinks I can't do anything or that I am afraid. I have something to show him; Lily Duchannes is not scared. I gripped my trolley and ran straight through the wall without looking back. When I got to the other side, I couldn't have been more amazed than I am now. Everything looks so wonderful and magical. The train blew its whistle, and I noticed other students start to board the train.
"Let's go, love; you can sit with us." They said at the same time again. They need to stop doing that.
As we walked through the train, people whispered to each other and stared at me like I was an alien. When we entered one of the compartments on the train, the twins threw questions at me.
"What's your name?"
"Are you a first-year?"
"Of course, she's not; she looks too old to be a first-year."
The twins start bickering, and I sit back, looking amused. But after a few minutes, it got boring, so I thought I should answer their questions, which started the unstoppable bickering.
"My name is Lily Duchannes; I am not a first-year; I was transferred here from America and am in my sixth year. " I told them.
They looked at me and nodded while rubbing their chin like they had long facial hair.
"Well, aren't you going to tell me your names?" I questioned, waiting for them to speak.
"I'm George Weasley, and that's Fred." The one twin said while winking at me.
I couldn't help but blush when he winked; I had never been winked at before. I was so immersed in my studies that I never took the time to pay attention to boys. We started talking about Hogwarts and the four houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. I think George and Fred are in Gryffindor, which is the house I want.
"Hey, we are going to see my brother and his friends. Would you like to tag along?" Fred questioned ever so politely.
"I would love to, but I have to change into my robes, and I plan on finishing the book before we arrive. " I told them while waving my great Gatsby book around.
They both nodded but seemed upset that I didn't go. I quickly changed into plain black robes before sitting beside the window to finish my book.
"I love her, and that's the beginning and end of everything. "
(Harry's POV)
Hermione was blabbering about something. I really couldn't tell you what she was going on because Ron and I were throwing a book back and forth. She was most likely going on about us not taking school seriously, but I could barely focus on school when I knew Voldemort was back, even though no one believed me. George and Fred barged into our compartment as I was about to throw the book back at Ron.
"There is a new girl,"
"She will be in her sixth year."
They say together, sounding out of breath.
I was about to say something, but Hermione had to get the first word in.
"Like a transfer student, Hogwarts has never had a transfer student. " Hermione stated, flabbergasted.
"Yes, like a transfer student," Fred said in an unmistakable tone.
"She must be exceptional if she got transferred to Hogwarts," George told us. "Ya' know, seeing as there has never been a transferring student in the history of Hogwarts."
Hermione just huffed and crossed her arms. Fred and George laughed at her reaction, along with Ron. I can't believe someone let their kid come here with everything the Daily Prophet has been saying.
"I think she was born muggle because she was reading some muggle book," George said.
"Something called the Great Gatsby, I think," Fred finished.
Hermione perked up at this and started smiling but then realized who she was smiling about.
"Great book." She mumbled while pulling out a book and started reading.
"She is so beautiful,"
"Oh yes, the prettiest green eyes I have ever seen." Fred and George said.
They sat back on the seats and looked at the wall. They looked like they were in love and had just met the girl.
"She looks like someone I know; I just can't say who because I can't remember. " Fred says while George nodes. "It was from one of the old pictures Mum has. I'll have to send an owl later and ask."
"What will you do doddle her a picture for comparison?" Ron asks Fred while shoving food in his mouth.
Fred and George both end up smacking Ron upside down, which makes me slightly chuckle.
I don't want to admit it, but the way George and Fred describe her makes me feel like she and I haven't even met her. What if she was a big snob? What am I even doing? There is no time to think about girls when Voldermort is literally out to kill me.
I need to focus.
