Chapter 2: Stop Trying

"Good Morning students! It's an amazing day! Get up and let's start the day right!" Mononeko's voice wakes me up. I groan, sitting up. I look around, remembering where I am. "This is bull shit.." I mumble standing up. I put my shoes on and fix my hair before opening the door. The second I walk out, Scar walks out of her room. "Hi Lily!" She smiles. "Hi Scar." I yawn, stretching my arms. "How'd ya sleep?" She asks walking with me. "Alright I guess..." I say. "Hey I never got to tell you but I love your sweatshirt." I point to her Survey Corp sweatshirt. "Thank you!" She smiles. We get to the Dining hall where a few people are chatting. Swift and Cheesy are laughing like maniacs, Simple and Ender are STILL making ships of people. Wild and Mango are chatting together. "Come on let's go get something to eat. Scar says. I nod and we walk into the kitchen. "So you watch Attack on Titan?" She says sitting on the counter. "Yeah it's one of my favorite animes." I say putting rice in a pot. Scsr grabs an apple taking a bite out of it. "Mine too!" She gulps down a piece of apple. "You ship Eremin right?" I say. "Yeah! The student ID gave away my Super High School Level?" She asks. I nod cooking my rice. " Well... You ship anyone?" She asks. "Huh... Well I ship Ereri and Eremin." I say smiling. She smiles back taking another bite of the apple. I put my rice in a bowl and put some chicken in the microwave. "You eat Chicken and Rice for breakfast?" She questions. "Yeah... Me and my brother do this whenever we have rice. But he'll put beef in it. It's just something we do together..." I say looking at the floor. "Oh no no I wasn't judging! I was just wondering!" She panics. I take the chicken out of the microwave. I put piece of it in the rice and grab chopsticks. Swift and Cheesy come in the kitchen. "Whooa you made chicken and rice?!" Cheesy says. I nod and eat some while I walk to the table with Scar. Everyone is there now. "Glad to see no one dead..." I say in relief. "Yeah me too." Scar takes another bite from the apple. "I wish we were out of here though..." Declan says. "We all do." Wild says. "Guys I have a question. What do you think of the ship EndeRous?" Simple asks. "Uh... I guess it's good?" I look around and everyone nods. "Awesome!" He writes it down. Ender smiles as he writes. "Oooooh are we shipping people?!" Mononeko appears. "That's something you're real good at Simple." He says sitting in a chair at the end of the table. He casually eats a raw fish causing us all to squirm. "That's gross!" Athena gags. "It's good!" He says. "Whatever. Have you ever thought of shipping me with this one?" He says wrapping his arm around me. "NO HE HASN'T, NOR WILL HE EVER." I say blushing extremely. He laughs and pulls away. "Ah it's funny. You're the only one who'll react that way. Anyways I came to chit-chat! No one's died yet!" He whines. "Why would we kill anyone in the first place? We're all friends." Anna frowns. "You keep thinking that. One of you will snap. You'll all fall for despair!" Mononeko vanishes as he laughs insanely. " No we won't..." I say crossing my arms. "You shouldn't react when he does that stuff to you." Raptor suggests. "I can't help it! It's so..." I begin. "Disturbing?" Xeo finishes. "Yeah disturbing." I sigh. "Well." Rous says standing up. "I'm going to look around for an exit. Anyone wanna look with me?" She begins walking toward the exit. "I do!" Declan jumps up following her. "Us too!" Stiffy and Mary say running after them. "I'm going to draw some stuff I guess." Swift stands and Cheesy follows. "Us too." Mango and Wild say. "I'm going to go read some manga." Raptor says. "Let me join!" Ender says leaving with her. After a few minutes everyone is gone but me and Xeo. "So Lily... You're super high school level gamer right?" He says. "Yeah... And your SHSL Assassin right?" I ask. He nods. "But don't worry. I only kill from orders from my boss." He smiles a little. I feel a little weight lifted off my shoulder. " That's good. I find killing scary. I wouldn't be able to kill anyone. I'm too much if a wuss." I chuckle. "You sure act like a wuss." He says. "H-hey!" I begin laughing. "What are we laughing about?" Mononeko walks out of the kitchen. "Is this a couple I see?" He sits next to Xeo. "No." Xeo growls at him. "Whoa it's just a joke! Why aren't you guys with the others?" Mononeko scratches his ear. Xeo stands. "I was just about to go looking around again." He says walking out. I stay put looking at the table. "Just like normal school..." I sigh. "Oh yeah! You were left alone in middle school right?! Everyone thought you were weird!" Mononeko laughs. "You're not helping me.." I put my head on the table. "Not supposed to be." He purrs leaving. "Why am I always alone...?" I question myself. I shake my head and sigh. I stand up from the table, walking out of the dining hall. I feel a hand on my shoulder. I turn my head to see Xeo standing there. "I stayed until he left. I didn't want him... Touching you or anything disturbing..." He says. "Uh... Thanks..." I look at the floor, trying not to make eye contact. "You wanna go explore? Mate try to find away out?" He asks. I look up at him to see him smiling. I smile back and we begin searching. "Hey guys! What are you doing?" Simple asks, walking up to us with Anna. "Looking for a way out." I look at them. "We found stairs to a second floor, but they're blocked off. Wanna try to lift the bars?" Anna asks. Xeo nods and Simple smiles, happily showing us the way there.

There's a metal gate blocking off the stairs. "We should try pulling it up." Xeo says. We all grab the bottom bar and try pulling it up. I clench my teeth as we all pull back. "Damn..." Anna sighs.

We begin walking to our rooms. "I'm going to draw something I guess... We'll all meet in the dining hall later tonight right?" I ask. They nod as they walk in their rooms. I open my door with my key and step inside. I shut the door, walking over to my desk. I begin doodling everyone as manga characters.

As I doodle I hear a knock at my door. I stand up, opening my door to see Simple and Anna standing their with sketchbooks. "We wanted to.. Draw together.. As friends you know..." Simple says. I step aside so they can come in. They smile and walk in. I shut the door and grab the stuff off my desk and sit on the floor with them. "Whatcha drawing?" Anna asks looking at my sketchbook. "Just manga versions of ourselves..." I say. Anna smiles. "So were we." Simple says showing me his drawing. I begin to outline my drawing as the others do too. "Simple why are you SHSL Shipper?" I ask putting the cap on my outline pen. He looks up at me, picking up his box of colored pencils. "Why? Well... I'm really good at making imaginary couples." He smiles. "Really...? That's cool!" I grab my box of Copics. "You use Copics too?" Anna looks up from outlining. "Y-yeah! I'm trying to practice with them but I'm not very good.." I say pulling out a marker. I begin coloring Rous's character. "Really....? Here let me show you!" She says taking my hand and guiding me on how to color. Simple watches as she helps me color. "Oh... Okay..." I begin understanding how to color. "See it isn't that hard!" Anna smiles. "Yeah I guess it isn't..." I begin finishing Rous. "Wow that came out good!" Simple says finishing his coloring of Swift. "Yours too!" I point out. "And I'm still outlining..." Anna sighs trying to finish her outline of Mary. 

 "Should we go to the dining hall? It's almost dinner time." I say looking up at the clock. "Yeah let us put our stuff in our rooms." Anna stands. I nod as we exit my room. They enter their rooms, shutting the doors behind them. I wait outside my room when suddenly someone bumps into me. "H-hey!" I turn to see Declan. "S-Sorry.." He says as he runs to the dining hall. I raise my eyebrow about to question it when I hear a door open. I see Simple walking out of his room. "Come on Anna hurry up!" He bangs on her door. She comes out and crosses her arms. "Don't rush me! I have everything organized a certain way." She begins walking toward the dining hall. Me and Simple simply look at each other and run after her. We get there to see everyone chatting. "Jeez Lily now you're making others late." Stiffy jokes. I roll my eyes walking into the kitchen. I grab an apple and walk out eating it. "How has everyone been doing so far?" Mango asks writing in a notebook. " Good I guess. No one died so that's good." Athena says munching on some rice. "Yeah that's good...." Wild sighs sketching in a sketchbook. She seems to be to busy drawing at the moment. "How long are we gonna last without a death...?"Declan asks. "We are going to live without a death in this school!" I say. Everyone falls silent at my sudden outburst. " No one is going to die! We're all friends now! We're not killing each other!" I yell. "SHSL Shy girl finally came out of her shell." Mononeko appears from the kitchen. "My dear Lily. There will be a death soon. Keep believing there will be none. You'l only be in more despair!" He laughs. I glare at him and he stops. "That's scary. Princess stop being so angry." He pouts. "Stop calling her flirty names! She's 14! And how old are you?!" Swift yells. "For your information, I'm 16." Mononeko's tail flicks in anger. "Well you all have fun. Have a Despair filled night!" He walks away, vanishing into the kitchen once again.

 "I'm going to sleep..." I yawn. "Me too..." Anna stands from her seat. "Me three..." Raptor says. We all walk out together mumbling our good nights. I open my door, walking over to my bed, flopping down face first. I kick my shoes off and I take my short-sleeve hoodie off, leaving me in a black tank top with lime green paint splatters on it. I feel myself dozing off as I hear the night time announcement.

 The next morning I wake up to the announcement. I sit up in bed sighing. Day 3 in this hell. I put my shoes on and put my hoodie back on. I walk out of my room, fixing my hair with my hands. I walk to the dining hall, seeing I'm the first one there. "Now Stiffy can't say crap..." I chuckle to myself. I sit down waiting for the others. 

 Everyone piles in within 10 minutes. Everyone but one person. " Hey... Where's Rous...?" Ender says looking around. "I don't know..." Xeo shrugs. "Do you want me to go look for her?" I ask. "That would be nice." Declan says. I stand up walking out of the Dining Hall, making my way to the dorms. "Rous...? Buddy?" I begin knocking on her door. The door opens when I knock. "It's open...?" I enter. "Rous...?" I look around. No one. Her supplies are gone though. I check the unlocked bathroom. No one. I exit her room think where else she could be. "Maybe she went to the classrooms...?" I say walking toward them. I look up at the sign. '1A.' I slide open the door, my eyes widening at what I just found.
