Chapter 25: Goodbye Despair, Hello Hope

 Athena is laughing insanely. "YES! The despair was... Unreal! It was amazing!" Her skull is bleeding from the axe. "Ah... Have fun outside... And Lily...?" Athena says. I glare at her as she pulls a set of keys from her pocket. "Take what you need and go." She collapses to her knees. "Yeah whatever... Thanks I guess..." I swing them around and around on my finger as she falls to the floor smiling. "Let's get out of here." I sigh walking out of the execution room. "Do we need anything?" I say swinging the keys. 

 "Hmm... Besides getting Hope back to being a human... No not really." Mononeko shakes his head. "Okay. Then let's go get Hope." I smile. Everyone nods in agreement. "What do you think is outside...? Do you think anyone is alive?" Xeo asks. "Maybe... Hope mentioned the people have been fighting to get us out..." Simple scratches the back of his head. "When was this?!" I look at them. "When Anna washed your clothes she took Hope's locker key. We talked to her and she said six people were waiting." Mango says. We get to the bath house and I open the locker. "Where do we take her?" I ask looking at Mononeko. "Athena's room." He says, taking my hand. I blush but allow him too. "Can we change you back...?" I ask. "... Well... Athena told me after I read my book... That I'm stuck like this..." He sighs. "Man that sucks..." Anna sighs. "No it's fine! I don't really mind..." He smiles. "Where's Athena's room?" Swift asks. "Fifth Floor. It's one of the locked doors. That's why Master- I mean... Athena gave Lily the set of keys." Mononeko points to the set of keys I attached to my jeans. 

 We walk up to the fifth floor, Mononeko leading the way to Athena's room. He takes the keys from me and unlocks the door with a orange key. He opens the door for us for nice cool air to hit us. "Whooa." Xeo says. There's a giant machine in the corner of the room. "Okay give me the laptop." Mononeko says. I hand him Hope and he plugs her into the machine. "We have to wait 20 minutes..." Mononeko sits on the bed. We all join him and we sit in silence for a few minutes. "We're going to live out there right...? "Swift asks. "Yeah of course." I smile. "We all need to have hope though... If we don't... We won't live." I say. "Yeah... Maybe those others Hope mentioned really are waiting for us." Anna says. "I hope so... I don't want to walk streets I don't know." Mango sighs, crossing her arms. "We gotta make sure this never happens to anyone ever again... For everyone." I smile. 

 Everyone nods and the machine begins glowing. "Everyone look away!" Mononeko yells. We turn our heads away from the blinding light. Once the light begins to fade, we all look at Hope. "G-Guys..?" She begins. I run up to her and hug her. "Thank you Hope.." I say. "Thank you for what...?" Swift begins. "O-oh... I kinda saved her from being killed..." Hope chuckles as she awkwardly hugs me back. " Come on we're finally leaving here! And you're never going to be alone again!" I smile taking her hand with mine. Small tears form in her eyes as she smiles. "Y-yeah! Let's go!" She smiles. 

 We make our way to the front door. We all look at each other. "Are we ready for this...?" I ask. Everyone nods as I begin to unlock the door. I open the door to see a bright light. I turn my head once more to face the school lobby. Everyone else does the same and they gasp. I see everyone. Rous, Declan, Stiffy, Jasmine, Scar, Raptor, Wild, Mary, Ender, and Cheesy. "Thanks guys..." Rous smiles. "You made it out alright...." Declan smiles. "Live on for us." Stiffy says. "We'll always be watching!" Scar says. "We'll be protecting you." Raptor smiles. "Have lots of hope." Wild and Mary say. "And don't fall for despair." Ender and Cheesy smile. "Make sure this never happens again." Jasmine says. We nod as we wave. They all wave back as we walk out the door to face the outside world.

Even if it's filled with despair, we always have to have hope.
