"Knock, knock."
I sighed. "Harry, I'm not in a mood to joke right now."
I felt bad for sounding so harsh, but work was piling up and I really needed to complete it as soon as possible if I wanted to attend my sister's wedding. I groaned and tugged at the roots of my hair.
"I'm here if you need to talk."
"You can hang up, or I can hang up." I answered simply and continued to type away.
"I just wish I could give you the company you need," He breathed. "You sound lonely, Lou."
"You're calling me what now?" I raised my eyebrows in amusement.
I've put Harry in speaker mode, so it was easier to talk to him while I finished my work. He was right, I needed someone to talk to, and Harry was the best option so far. I haven't spoke to Eleanor after what happened, though I did hope she was doing alright.
"Lou, my boo."
"You're disgusting." I cringed, but my heart felt warm.
"You like it, though, don't you?"
I cleared my throat in embarrassment.
"I met someone today," He began his story. He would usually do this when we ran out of things to say. "She told me she liked me."
I blinked. "Oh, then what did you say?"
"I told her I had someone else in mind."
"Oh."
"Yeah," He paused. "Her name's Eleanor."
I choked and nearly fell from the chair I was sitting on. Eleanor confessed to Harry? They knew each other?
"Eleanor who?"
"Calder. Do you know her?"
"Haz, Harry," I breathed. "She's... She's my ex."
There was a long pause from Harry, and I could only imagine the priceless look on his face. Wait, how did he even looked like?
"That's...," He chuckled lowly. "That's news."
"It is." I swallowed the lump in my throat.
I can't believe this.
"I'm sorry, Lou. I didn't know."
"It's fine, really. We don't talk anymore."
"Are you quoting Charlie?" He mused.
"Maybe." I smiled.
"I'm glad I met you."
"Me too —"
The line was cut off, so I glanced over to look at my phone and the familiar battery logo was flashing.
Battery low.
