"Here." My sister handed me a glass of water, and I took it hesitantly.
It was a good thing she stopped me, or else the doctor would be badly injured by now. I guess my mind was in a mess, and my thoughts were all jumbled up.
She was gone.
I whimpered.
When Lottie left the room to give me my own space, I gave Harry a call. It was a quarter passed 3 in the morning, so I doubt he would answer.
But he did, just like he promised.
"Lou..."
"Haz," I lost it. I cried, hard. "Haz, she's gone. She's gone. My mum's gone!"
"Shh, shh. Breathe, Lou."
I tried to take a deep breath, but I ended up choking. I shook my head and cried even more.
"I'm sorry," Harry apologised. "I'm so, so sorry."
"It's not your fault."
Funny how everyone thought she would be okay, that she would be fine. But look what happened..
"I wish I could do something."
"It's fine, Harry," I said truthfully. "Your voice is all I need now. Just talk to me..."
"Where do you live? I can come visit or something."
I liked the thought of finally getting to meet Harry, but for some reasons I didn't want to. I wasn't ready to meet him yet.
"It's fine, Harry. Maybe next time."
"... You don't want me to visit?"
I could sense the hurt in his voice and I instantly regretted my choice of words.
"No, I didn't mean that. I'm sorry," I sighed in frustration. "I just... I'm not in a good condition right now. I wanna meet you when I'm okay. When I'm happy. I don't want you to see me sad. I want our first meeting to be a happy one."
"Lou.." He whispered in awe.
"Yeah, so don't get the wrong idea. I really, really want to see you. I can't wait, Haz. We have to meet up. I need to see my Happy Harry."
"And I need to see my boo."
I blushed at his nickname for me, but I was feeling a little bit better now. I was still upset, yes, but Harry kept me sane.
I didn't snap.
"Lou." Lottie knocked on the door.
"Hey, Haz. I'll call you back later, yeah?"
"Sure, Louis. See you, love."
"Bye."
After I hung up, Lottie approached me with an envelope in her hand. She pursed her lips and sat across of me.
"What's that?" I asked.
"It's... It's from mum."
She handed the envelope to me, which had my name written on it.
"She told me if anything happens to her," She sniffed. "She... She wants you to read that."
I frowned. "What about you? Did you get one?"
Lottie was full crying now as she shook her head. I got up and wrapped my arms around her. She continued to cry.
"We all knew, Louis," She sobbed. "We knew."
My heart dropped.
And sometimes I wondered how many times could a broken heart break.
