Mario, Luigi and Lightning came across an empty cave.
"Guess we can take shelter in here" Lightning retorted.
"Well, are you ready, bro?" Luigi asked.
"Of course I am" Mario answered. "What should I learn first?"
"Um... Let's try Iron Tail" Luigi answered. Luigi gave a demonstration of his own Iron Tail in action. "You try."
"Alright, It doesn't seem that hard" Mario remarked. His tail became Iron and he slammed it into the ground.
Luigi was speechless and Mario noticed.
"What?" He asked.
Luigi still had no words.
"Luigi?"
"H-how did you do that so quick?" He finally managed to speak.
"I told you. I'm a quick learner. Now, what was that other move you knew?" Mario asked.
"Shadow Ball" Luigi answered. He gave Mario a demonstration of his own Shadow Ball. As it came out of the cave and didn't stop tell it hit a tree.
"Woah!! That's a cool move" Mario remarked. "Now it's my turn."
Mario did exactly what Luigi did and fired a larger Shadow Ball out of the cave.
"How was that?" Mario asked.
Lightning was surprised. "That was quick."

Mario laughed. "Yeah. Lightning, what moves do you know?"
"Oh, I know Thunderbolt, Electro Ball, Iron Tail and Quick Attack." Lightning answered.
"Wow!! That's a great amount of moves you have." Mario said.
Lightning giggled. "Yeah, thanks! But that's the maximum amount of moves a Pokémon can learn.

"Well then, I guess we need a set of moves of our own Luigi" Mario told his brother.
Luigi nodded in agreement.
"Well anyways. I'm going to go out and look for berries. You two should stay here and rest. I don't want you guys getting attacked by another Pokémon again." Lightning told them.
"Good idea. Be careful Lightning" Mario replied.
"I will" She told him before leaving them in the cave.
*** Lightning walked aimlessly through the forest until she spotted a Sitrus berry bush. "Perfect..." she remarked, before she gained sight of a Rowlet flying towards her carrying a letter in his talons.
"Message to Lightning from the Starter Squad" the Rowlet said.
"Over here, Rowan!" She called.
"Here you go" Rowan said, handing her the letter and flew off.
Lightning worriedly opened the envelope to see that it was a pink slip.
"No..." she nodded her head in disbelief.

The pink slip said... We're sorry to inform you that you are no longer part of the Starter Squad due to the following reason...
Refusing to give up the wanted Eevees to Yveltal in order to save the forest from certain doom.

"The Starter Squad was in this too?" She thought. "I don't want the brothers to know about this. They'll feel guilty. I'll just keep it from them. Hopefully that's a good decision."
She folded the pink slip and hid it in her bow. Afterwards, she picked a few berries off the bush and rushed back to the brothers.
*** "Lightning, you're back" they said in unison.
"Y-yeah..." she responded, trying to hide her feelings from them.
Mario and Luigi looked at each other, knowing something is wrong.
"What's bothering you, Lightning?" Luigi asked.
"It's nothing" she replied.
"Are you sure?" Mario asked.
"Yes, It's nothing. Honest" she told them, faking a smile.
"If you say so..." they replied.
"What kind of berries did you get? Are those Sitrus berries. They look very good" Mario said.
"Yes" Lightning replies, handing him one. She gave Luigi and Klefki one as well.
"Thank you" they replied.
"Well what can I say except your welcome" Lightning said.
As soon as they finished there berries, they decided to take a short rest.
