Chapter 31: Getting drunk

The next day, Xi Jun, along with some friends, had arranged a small celebratory party of sorts to commemorate the end of exam season. They insisted An Lian came along to make more friends, and of course have some fun.

Naturally - according to his character, this was not An Lian's idea of fun.

The get-together was being held at a small hot-pot restaurant and would start at 5 o'clock.

It was only after much convincing and bribing that An Lian agreed to come.

Jian Chen was invited too, but due to training was unable to make it, and Yu Ming had gone home to his family until later that evening.

The time came and An Lian was standing outside the meeting area with Xi Jun.

Xi Jun: "Don't worry Xiao Lian, you'll fit right in!"

An Lian just sighed, "Ah."

Luckily the evening went smoothly, it seems Xi Jun's friends were a lot like him – Loud and friendly. So An Lian had to do little of the conversation.

The alcohol certainly helped boost An Lian's confidence.

The group of people sat at a large table and ordered several dishes and drinks to share around.

"An Lian, just have a taste!"

"You've really never drunk before?"

An Lian hadn't drunk before, simply because the opportunity never came up. So now, faced with the chance, An Lian decided to try it out. The drink was bitter to him, and he wasn't sure why people liked it...

But due to his nervous habits he continuously sipped his glass, until eventually the bitter taste went away.

He started feeling light-headed and giggly. And, combined with the up-beat and happy atmosphere he really started enjoying himself.

By 11 o'clock more than half of the people had become completely wasted, and unable to walk straight.

An Lian had not had that much to drink, but his tolerance was really low.

An Lian growing drowsy wanted nothing more than a soft bed.

An Lian: "Xi Jun, I think... I'll go back now."

Xi Jun looked up from his drunken conversation with a friend.

Xi Jun: "You want to go now?"

An Lian: "Someone's ...*hic*...coming to pick me up."

Xi Jun: "You've got someone picking you up? That's fine then." [A/N :/ I know, Xi Jun is an irresponsible parent...]

Xi Jun turned back to his friend and An Lian walked out of the place.

He stood still for a while unable to remember what he was doing.

Jian Chen will come pick me up.

An Lian took out his phone and called Jian Chen's number. The call connected.

Jian Chen: "An Lian?"

An Lian: "Jian Chen... where are you?"

"What do you mean? Where are you?"

"At the hot-pot place of course."

Jian Chen thought An Lian sounded a bit strange and a thought came to mind,

"Xiao Lian, have you been drinking?"

"Yup yup! Hehehe, Xi Jun said it would help ah!"

Jian Chen face-palmed, That Xi Jun...

"I'm coming."
