We stared out into the stars. I looked into his eyes after a little while. The stars and constellations reflected in the whites of his eyes. I looked back at the sky. The stars weren't too visible since there was so much light pollution, but it was still nice.

"The stars are beautiful.", I said quietly.

"Mhm.", He responded, also in a quiet tone.

He glanced at me.

"You know... My soulmate is much better than I thought she would be...", He smiled.

He turned his head away from the stars and looked at the ground. I stayed silent until I felt his hand grab mine. I looked at him and saw him staring directly at me.

He took his hand off of mine and placed it on my cheek. His cold fingertips made a shiver go down my spine. He moved his face in closer, and I finally realized what he was trying to do.

I stayed still. I felt his warm breaths against my skin. His lips touched mine. I felt like I had turned to Jello.

I lifted my hand and put it on his shoulder. I pushed him away slowly. I stared into his eyes. Our faces were inches apart. It was completely silent. I felt my face get hot.

"I love you.", He said quietly.

I felt like I was losing my mind. How could he love me... If we've known each other for less than a day. Maybe he was lying. I didn't know how it was possible.

I mean, we had gotten to know each other in the past few hours. I felt really close to him, but I still wasn't sure... We were "meant for each other", sure, but I still always had the option of cutting my string if things didn't go well.

He continued to stare into my eyes, waiting for an answer. His hazel eyes felt comforting, but they stared into my soul.

"I'm not ready for this. We've known each other for a day.", I mumbled.

"Amanda... I know that. But I already feel so close to you... Who knows what could happen to us, we could stay together, we could break apart. I want to make this moment last, this moment, when both of us are new to each other, and we feel as if nothing could happen that would make us break."

He closed his eyes and sighed lightly. I felt guilt crushing me down, but I just stayed completely still, waiting for something to happen.

Nothing.

I moved my hand from his shoulder to his cheek. I brought my face closer to his. I pressed my forehead against his. His breaths were my breaths. I pushed away once again. I stood up.

"I'll see you soon, Lukas."

"Bye..."

I started to walk away. I looked over my shoulder. I saw Lukas, sitting at the edge of the cliff, his legs dangling off of the edge. His head was pointed up, towards the stars. I turned my head back around.

As I got farther away from him, I started to speedwalk, then jog, then run.

I knew exactly where I was going. Campus wasn't far. Though, I wasn't going to my dorm.
