Her Reaction

I got to the campus who knows how long after. I reached Kaylee's dorm. My legs ached, and so did my stomach. So did my heart, because all I could picture was Lukas on the edge of the cliff, staring up at the stars, all alone. I wish I wasn't such a sissy.

I knocked quickly, waiting for her to answer.

"Kaylee? It's me, Amanda.", I talked through the thin wood door.

"Hang on just a second.", Her response was quieted by the door, and she sounded far away.

"I need to talk to you."

"The door is unlocked, come inside."

I walked inside and saw Kaylee and her soulmate, Tyson, playing tic-tac-toe in their pajamas.

"Uh, is this the wrong time?", I asked.

"No.", Kaylee said, standing up.

I looked at Tyson. He looked embarrassed. Probably because I walked in on them... While they were playing tic-tac-toe... In their pajamas... Seems like a good reason to be embarrassed.

I looked around the room and saw papers with tic-tac-toe games all over it. They were all over the floor. They were watching anime on their TV, I wasn't sure which anime it was. Their TV was across from the couch.

"Kaylee, come outside with me.", I said nervously.

"Okay? Tyson, I'll be right back."

He nodded. We walked out of the dorm, and I shut the door.

"Listen, you know how Lukas and I went out and everything?"

"Yeah, Anahi told me... Oh god, what happened?"

"He kissed me... And he told me he loved me..."

"...So? Isn't that a good thing?"

"We've known each other for a day. Don't you think he was going a bit too quick into everything? I mean, I told him off really nicely. When I was walking away, I looked back and saw him just sitting there, with his legs dangling off the edge, and his head up, staring at the stars. So not only am I kind of embarrassed, I feel kind of guilty too..."

"I mean, I don't really think he was going too quickly into everything... You know, cause you're soulmates and everything. Aren't you supposed to feel undying love for each other?"

"Do you feel undying love for Tyson?"

"Maybe not undying, but... Just, you're getting off subject. So, you 'told him off nicely'?"

"Yeah... I said... Something like, 'We've known each other for a day, I'm not ready for this.' And then he went into this heartfelt speech about how he wanted to make the moment last, before whatever happens in the future happens."

"He's really trying..."

"Just, please, what do I do?"

"Maybe try apologizing... That's the best option, obviously."

"It'll be awkward..."

"You're always awkward.", She joked.

"I know, I know... Thank you."

"You're welcome."

"I should get going. Bye, Kaylee."

"See ya.", She opened her door and went back inside.
