I poked my head outside the window. I had heard something from outside, but where? I wasn't one to ignore strange sounds– no less, strange sounds that happened during night. I looked left, right. Nothing. Surely I can't be hearing things, right...?
I down and almost yelped. Jeez, Annabeth!
The girl in question was seated, her head gently leaning against the wall, eyes closed. She was close enough for me to be able to see the soft rise and fall of her chest, and the way her hair gently swayed in the night breeze. I felt my shoulders relax as I realized how peaceful she looked. Annabeth hadn't looked very peaceful these days, especially because of the incident that had happened recently. This was a nice change.
Whatever. I can't get sappy now, can I?
I grinned and decided to mess with her one last time before the day officially ended. I grabbed a perfume bottle, sprayed some out above her, and quickly retracted back inside the cabin, away from the windows. I heard a groan and then a small gag. I peeked outside and saw her walking back to her cabin coughing, and I stifled a stupid laugh.
I watched her disappear behind the empty Artemis cabin and I closed the window, a hysterical grin plastered on my face. I turned around and plunged head-first into my pillow, careful enough not to wake the others. She looked so peaceful it was pretty cute, I admitted to myself.
Woah. Step back.
I shook my head wildly, trying to clear the thought off of my mind. Am I going insane...? I felt my cheeks flush and I sighed and buried my face deeper into my pillow. Mainly to ward off the smell of perfume. I shut my eyes tightly. Should I try to sleep? I didn't know.
Eventually, sleep naturally overtook me as I wondered what was going on with my thought process lately.

I woke up, rubbing my eyes drowsily as my internal clock went off. I yawned and stood up, stretching. No. A rush of grogginess went through my body and I sat back down, resting my head in my hands. Just a little while longer...
When I heard the rest of the cabin begin to stir, I decided to finally get up. I yawned once again as I changed lazily into the familiar orange CHB shirt, then I made sure to tuck in my bedsheets to make them somewhat presentable before I walked to the door. I inhaled sharply as the sun's bright rays annihilated my eyes, burning them relentlessly for what seemed to be two long hours (they were probably only seconds, to be honest). Who forgot to close the curtains before sleeping? I thought irritatedly, shielding the light that shone through the windows with my hands.
My mind briefly flashed to me snickering as I sprayed pungent perfume out the window. Dang. It was me.
With a sigh, I opened the door before I flinching in surprise. I was greeted by the sight of Annabeth standing just in front of the entryway, and she waved at me while also trying to tie up her hair. "Hi," she said.
I rubbed my eyes. What the heck? Am I dreaming or something?
"Hey...?" I responded, confused. "Um... Annabeth? Not to sound rude or anything, but why are in front of the door at this hour?" I asked drowsily. "Oh, uh..." The taller girl seemed to realize what she was doing and she stepped aside hastily, allowing me to step past her. "Sorry about that, I just happened to get up early and I wanted to see what you were up to." Annabeth finished tying up her hair and she combed a hand through it before seemingly deeming it alright.
I shot her a strange look. "What I was up to...? I always get up at this hour, so I was obviously asleep." To exaggerate my point, I rubbed at my sleepy eyes. The other girl seemed to backpedal. "Oh. Well, moving past that– I was a little bored, can you blame me for checking up on a friend?"
