I felt Piper snuggle up closer to me and I wrapped an arm around her. She buried her face in my shirt, then suddenly sat up and sneezed. I stifled a laugh. "Are you alright?" I asked. "Yeah, fine. I just inhaled lint or something." she said, furiously scrubbing at her nose. I laughed and she rolled her eyes.

"How about we skip today? Lessons, training, all that." she said. I shrugged. "Yeah, yeah. It's definitely not like we've been doing that already." I said matter-of-factly. She shrugged. "Cool. So that's a yes?" Piper asked. I nodded. "Yeah." She grinned and coughed. "Boy, you smell like lemons." She said. I rubbed my arm. "Keeps the spiders away?" I said. She laughed. "Yeah, like spiders are going to crawl into your hair anytime soon." she teased. "Hey, YOU won't understand. This happens to children of Athena all the time." I protested. She shrugged. "Then just call me. I'll kill those ugly things called spiders." She said, striking a pose. I smiled and she grinned.

It was a bit awkward after that. I just trying not to look at her too much, and if I did, I just pinched myself to try to keep my hands still. I tried not to let her notice, although, I think she noticed quite a couple of times. Probably when I turned red. And looked away at the farthest corner of the room.

I did it again, and this time she just inched closer to me and made me look at her. "Like what you see?" she asked teasingly with a wink. I widened my eyes and turned red. I looked away, embarrassed. "Uh..."

She made me face her again, but this time she was visibly trying not to laugh. She leaned in and kissed my forehead. "Hi." I said, partly in a daze. She snorted. "Gods, you're such a goofball when it comes to this stuff." she said. I shook my head to clear it. "Oh. Yeah, I guess I am." I said sheepishly. "It's cute." Piper said with a smirk. I tried not to let my guard down. "Like you." I said back boldly. She laughed. "Smooth, Annie. Smooth." she replied. "Well, I couldn't just have you do the teasing, could I?" I asked. She shook her head. "Not at all."

Piper smiled lovingly and rested her head on my shoulder. "I'm bored." she sighed. "I'm not. You're here." I replied. Piper snorted. "I can't wait until we're in our 20's. Imagine how many more things we could do."

"Yeah, but I'm not sure how to feel about you in your twenties. You'd be crazy." I said. She shrugged. "I'd be prettier." she said with a snort. She flipped her hair mockingly.

We were both quiet for a second before I sighed awkwardly and shifted around, allowing the other girl to snuggle closer to me. I couldn't help but close my eyes tightly for a second, then open them again with another awkward, out of place sigh.

"Hey, you good?" Piper asked, looking up at me.

"Yeah..."

I looked away when I realized that I was beginning to blush for no reason at all. I heard her snicker, and I cleared my throat. We stayed like that for a while before she sat up. I immediately missed the contact, the warmth of her body pressed up against mine, but I controlled the urge to stay put and not drag her closer again.

...I had to control a lot of urges that day.
