Realization

Lance's POV:
"YOU'RE COMPLETELY USELESS AS OF RIGHT NOW LANCE!" I winced at that. Pidge glared at me from the video stream. "Just get out of there. I'll send Keith." And then she cut off. I chuckled. She told me to get out of here. She wants me to return. No I'm not leaving. I can't do this anymore. I can't do anything anymore. The door behind me swung open and I was grabbed. I didn't even make a noise as I was tossed to the ground in front of Haggar. She smiled coldly at me. "Well, well, this is a pleasant surprise." She used her magic to lift me up. "The Blue Paladin is one of my prisoners now." I reached out to Blue in my mind and told her to leave me. I told her not to get any help, just to leave and retreat to safety. I told her to let the others figure out everything by themselves. She agreed to do it, and left.
*2 months later*💙

Lance's POV:
I layed there thinking about when I would die. It was dark in my cell with only one light in it. I have been tortured for a long time. I thought they would save me. NO. I did not think that. I knew they wouldn't. I've always been replaceable. They probably found a new paladin already. My cell door opened and Haggar came in. Time for my daily 8 hour long torture session. Haggar lifted me into a chair. I looked at her confused. She gave me a soft smile which made me even more confused. She opened a video call for Voltron. When it was answered, I saw Allura, Shiro, Pidge, Hunk, Keith, Coran, but there was another person. A girl. Allura's face turned into one of anger when she saw Haggar. Haggar, I noticed, was hiding me from their view. "I see you have a new Paladin Princess Allura." Allura nodded. "Yes we do." I looked down, sadness hitting me in waves. I let out a sad whimper. Haggar turned and placed a hand on my shoulder. "It's okay my son." I looked up at her. She moved out of the way to reveal me. The others gasped. "L-Lan-" Haggar cut her off. "Do NOT say his name Princess." Allura looked taken aback. "And why not Haggar." I stood up suddenly. "Because I said so." Allura's eyes widened, as did the teams. I glanced at Haggar who seemed impressed. Pride blossomed within me. For once someone noticed who I was, for once someone praised me. Haggar took a step forward. "You will not see Lance the Blue Paladin anymore. For he is to join the Galra ranks as OUR Sharpshooter. That is, unless he wants to go back." She looked at me to make a choice. I looked at the others. Shiro spoke, "Lance you HAVE to come back to us. We mi-" I scowled and harshly cut him off. "No." Shiro looked distressed. "Wha-" "You did not miss me. That is clear." Allura frowned. "Of course we miss you Lance." I glared at her. "First of all, DON'T SAY MY NAME." I shouted. My voice having a newfound authority. "And second of all, If you guys TRULY missed me, where were you these past 2 months I've been missing?" They all glanced away. I laughed, a hollow sound that came out of my mouth. "2 months ago I would've been jumping at the chance to return to you guys. I would've thought you guys were just harsh to me because you were all under immense stress." Shiro opened his mouth, I raised a hand to silence him. "But now, 2 months later, it seems to me that I'm gonna need more convincing evidence for me to return." I gestured to the girl. "First tell me who she is." Coran looked at the girl. "That is Lilac. She is from a now destroyed planet named Calypso." I nodded. "Now what is Lilac's purpose there on the castle?" Hunk took in a deep breath. "Her purpose is to become the new Blue Paladin." I nodded. "Oh, Oh my things aren't turning out so well for you guys after all." I smirked at them, feeling a harshness unraveling itself inside me. "Maybe I won't return." "AND WHY NOT?!" Allura shouted. Shiro told her to calm down but she shrugged him off. "NO I WILL NOT CALM DOWN SHIRO, HE ALWAYS DOES THIS. HE THINKS OF NO ONE BUT HIMSELF. HE DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE UNIVERSE, HE ONLY CARES ABOUT HIMSELF. HE'S SELFISH" She yelled. I laughed. Then laughed harder and harder until I was bent over laughing like a mad man. "What? What are you laughing about?" She demanded. I straightened and glared at her. "You think I'M the selfish one?" I laughed again. "Oh Princess. I believe the only Selfish one here is you." She scoffed. "And what proof do you have?" I smirked and turned to Haggar. "Can you show them my memories from their point of view? Make sure they see my ever movement." She nodded and sent out a wave. We were suddenly in memories. It was after training when I had messed up once. Shiro was yelling at me. "Ugh Why can't you do Anything?!"
Teams POV:
"Ugh Why can't you do Anything?!" We heard Shiro yell at Lance. Lance opened his mouth to answer. "I was ju-" Shiro cut him off. "No Lance. NO EXCUSES. If you did that in a mission, Pidge would be DEAD. DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THAT?!" Shiro paced and then pointed at Lance harshly. "YOU, JUST GO TO YOUR ROOM OR SOMETHING, YOU ARE EXCLUDED FROM THIS TRAINING SESSION!" Lance nodded, muttering a little yes sir before leaving. Instead of staying in that room, we followed Lance. We watched as he slipped and hit his head on something and was knocked out. When he woke up again we were at dinner. He was right by the door. "Lance is just pathetic." Pidge said. "Where is Lance anyway?" Keith asked. "Who knows. It would be better if he just disappeared." Shiro said. Hunk agreed with a mouth full of food. We watched as Lance walked away from the doorway and into his room. We watched as tears streamed down his face yet he cried silently. We watched as he reached into a drawer and pulled out a blade. We watched as he rolled up his sleeve to reveal a dozen scars with recent red lines. We watched as other red lines crossed over those ones. Pidge broke down crying and Hunk joined her. Keith looked sick and Shiro looked guilty. Coran couldn't look but Allura just stared. We watched as he bandaged them up and the very next day he was happy. We were able to see how fake his smile was. How he put up a act for our happiness. Yet we yelled at him. Told him to shut up or go away. Lance seemed to have spared our misery however because we were pulled out of the memories. Lance looked broken when we saw him. He looked so sad yet when he saw us, he put that mask back on. We noticed Haggar down on the ground, dead. Lance gave us a small smile. "I love you guys. I'm sorry. I'm sorry you all have to witness this. Especially you Lilac. I never thought I would see you again." Lilac sobbed and fell down. Lance smiled again and tears began to fall. "I'm sorry. I need to go. They can't have me or my memories. But you guys can." There was some crashing on his side. We watched as he lifted a gun to his head. "I love you guys. Hunk, Shiro, Pidge, Allura, Coran, Lilac." He looked at Keith. "And you Keith. I really love you. Please don't cry." And right when the door opened behind him, he pulled the trigger.
