When He Goes Silent

It's dangerous to let Lance go silent. The team learned the hard way about that. It starts with Lance losing interest in normal everyday things. Then Lance retreats to his room everytime he's dismissed.
Then his laugh becomes flat. His smiles dim and his eyes don't shine like they used to.
He then barely cracks a joke. Doesn't reply to witty remarks and stays silent.
Coran had helped Lance cope for a bit before this happened but it was an inevitable thing.
Lance then doesn't eat. He goes to his room and only comes out for training and missions.
Then came the day when they went to go get Lance after a mission only to find him on the ground with an empty bottle of pills.
They managed to save him. It was a miracle.
They reassured Lance and kept him going.
But he's going through the process again. And they don't know what to do. Lance had a plan though. He would continuously show his gratitude and love for them then leave.
On a mission Lance took a hit. It wasn't going to harm anyone but he still jumped in front of it. He fell to the ground killed instantly by the gaping hole in his chest. The team screamed and cried for their comrade. They kept hoping he would get up but he wouldn't. Deep inside they knew he couldn't wake up. After that mission the team took a heavy toll.
Shiro blamed himself for this. He shouldn't have yelled at Lance.
Keith became numb to the world. Training was his only outlet.
Pidge broke down everytime she passed his room. Thinking of all the great times they had.
Coran cleaned. He was crushed by the loss of Lance, who had been a son to him.
Allura refused to be brought down by the death. But when she was alone she would sob. Cradling herself as she hated the way she had treated him.
Hunk. Hunk was the worst. What else can you say for him when he had lost his best friend. Cooking was a nightmare. He blamed himself like Shiro. He should've seen it coming for he was the best friend. He knew Lance better than anyone. So why hadn't he noticed it?
And while they mourned they had to fight. Allura was the new Blue Paladin and together they kept the universe safe. But they were damaged. And they could not be repaired. No matter how much praise they got. No matter how many hugs, kisses, handshakes, and parties they wouldn't smile. The light had disappeared from their lives with no way of retrieving it back. Guess this is what happens when Lance goes silent.
