We continued over the roof for another half an hour and then we arrived. I looked up at the giant gates that surrounded the whole of the building, and followed Wen and Nicol inside. This place looked so cool and it was only the outside, behind the huge metal fence there was another not to tall or thick fence but it would definitely help keep out any unwanted zombies that might break though the first fence.

I kept following Wen and Nicol through the building passing many rooms that didn’t have anything in them and some that were full of different things, such as; food, water and ammunition. This place was well stocked, almost as if they were prepared. We walked into a lift and Nicol hit the 3rd floor button, when the doors opened, we walked out and I saw what looked like a big living room. The walls were a cream colour and the floor wooden, all the furniture was pushed into one corner allowing people to sit there and the rest of the area looked as if it was used for fighting. This place was so cool! Nicol and Wen walked over to a group of people and rose and I followed.

It all happened so fast, I didn’t know what was going on. One moment we were all walking over and I was smiling about to introduce myself to them and then there was this big guy running towards me. I screamed and dodged out of his way, only for him to go running into Rose tackling her to the floor. He was on top of her holding a knife to her throat, shouting things at her. I didn’t wait to find out what he was saying to her before I ran over to them and jumped on the guys back, pulling him off Rose and holding him with my legs wrapped around him with my knife placed at his throat as he struggled to get out of my hold. “GET OFF ME! THAT BITCH IS INFECTED AND I AM NOT GOING TO STAND HERE AND LET HER HARM ANYONE!” he shouted at me and thrashed in my hold. I was not going to let him harm Rose. “You will not touch Rose! And if you do, I will not hesitate to slit uour throat without a second thought!” I screamed at him, tightening my hold. I looked around the room to find everyone either staring at rose or at this guy. He continued to thrash around in my arms so I removed my blade from his throat and replaced it with my arm, choking him. It took a few minutes but eventually he stopped moving and I pushed him off me. I stood up and looked around the room, “I don’t care who you are, but if you lay a hand on Rose, your fate will be like his. “ I pointed at the guy unconscious on the floor. “I will kill you in the most pain fullest way possible!” I walked over to Rose and held out my hand for her to take, she took my hand and I pulled her up so she stood next to me.

Everyone just stared at me. I smiled showing them that I was a nice person but when it came to family and friends, I will fight to protect them.

The first to speak was a tall guy, who had spikey black hair and a small beard. He looked like he was in his early thirties. “That was really cool!” he looked a Rose. “You’re lucky to have a friend like her.” He points at me and smiles, I smile back and watch rose speak. “Yeah, I am lucky. If you guys have a problem with me then we will just leave.” I looked around and no one said anything. “You’re not leaving.” Wen said to us and then looked at the rest of the group. “ Melody just took out Keith, he is our strongest fighter. We could learn a lot from both of them, when it comes to physical fighting. And in return we could teach them some of our skills as well.” Wen turned and smiled at me, “Sure, if you guys don’t mind.” I looked at Rose and she smiled, still feeling a little awkward.

Everyone was still a bit unsure about Rose because of her being infected, some at least tried to act normally after I told them I would be the one to deal with her when the time came. It took about 10 minutes for that guy Keith to come around and he wasn’t a happy bunny.

He ran straight for me, tackling me to the floor. I was expecting this though, as he leaned away to deliver a punch, I neatly placed my knife at his heart. “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” I told him, looking down at the knife. He looked at his chest, sighed and stood up. He looked around the room for Rose. As he laid eyes on her, I stepped in front of him, placing my knife against his chest once again. “I wouldn’t do that either.” I smiled as his face turned a deeper red with anger, and his knuckles turned white where he was clenching his fists so tight.

I walked back towards rose smiling as Nicol and Wen both explained the deal we had made while he lay unconscious. He wasn’t happy about it but shouted “FINE!” before he stormed out the room.

We were left in the room with a few people, Wen introduced us to them and some walked away. I didn’t think I would be talking to half of them so I didn’t bother remembering their names. “Noah, will you show Melody and Rose to their room please.” Wen said as this guy stepped forward and smiled. Noah had short blond hair that sat messily on his head. He had deep blue eyes and a couple of freckles on his nose, he looked around mine and rose’s age. I smiled and he smiled back, showing his dimples.

“This way.” He said with a really deep voice. I was so relieved that Rose and I had a safe and comfortable place to sleep. We followed behind him silently as we came to a door labelled 18. He opened the door and walked in, “This is your room, don’t worry there are two beds. The only reason you guys are sharing a room is because we don’t want rose to be alone, anything could happen.” I smiled, “thanks.” I walked over to a bed and sat down. “ Is there any way we could have some fresh clothes?” I asked. “All the rooms are stocked with anything you need; there might be something that fits you in there.” He pointed at the wardrobe. “Thanks again.” “No problem.” He smiled as he closed the door behind him.  

I walked over to the wardrobe and looked for something to sleep in, I found an assortment of clothes for men and woman. I found a large t-shirt and walked to the bathroom; I took a shower and changed. I got into the bed and looked at Rose; she was sitting on the other one. “Get some sleep Rose, tomorrow is going to be a busy day.” I smiled and laid back; I closed my eyes and fell into a dreamless sleep.
