2 Years Later
I looked in the mirror, a tear escaping from the corner of my eye. I'd been waiting for this day for a long time. And it finally came... the day I was going to marry Niall.
A lot had happened, in so little time. We had both officially graduated, and made the step of moving in together. The last piece to top it all off was finalizing our wedding plans. We'd had practically 2 years to plan it. I had hoped everything would be perfect.
"You look beautiful, Ronnie," Becca smiled, resting a hand on my shoulder.
I looked in the mirror, brushing my skirt down a bit. "Thanks. Do you... do you think he'll think so?" I asked, observing myself.
She smiled at me reassuringly, shaking her head. "God, even on your wedding day you're questioning your appearance. Of course he'll like it."
"You really think so? I thought he would when I was picking it out. It looks like something he'd like," I smiled, looking at her.
She shook her head again, smiling warmly. "No, silly. He's not going to like it because it's his style. He's going to like it because it's on you."
I turned around, looking at her, tears brimming my eyes. I hugged her tightly, closing my eyes. I was going to miss her so much... all our antics and sleepless nights talking, were officially over. As if she read my mind, she pecked my cheek, pulling away. "We're going to be best friends forever, Ron," she assured me, tears brimming her eyes as well.
I nodded, tears slipping down my cheeks. She laughed, reaching forward and wiping my tears for me.
"Don't cry, silly. You'll ruin your makeup. And besides, we're about to start," she smiled, patting my back. I smiled, shaking my head.
She took my hand, leading me to the double doors that lead to the altar. I'd been waiting for this day my entire life... and I never thought that it would come so soon. Becca gave me a reassuring smile as the ceremony began, the music starting. I watched as little Theo, who was now 3, wobbled down the aisle to his mother, presenting the rings. Next was Becca, and Sean and Darragh. and finally... it was my turn.
I took a deep breath, watching as everyone's heads turned to look at me. At first I was nervous... But then I saw him.
My heart melted at the sight of Niall, dressed in a tux, looking handsome from head to toe. His eyes caught mine, a grin spreading across his face. I couldn't stop the tears gathering in my eyes as I began walking towards him. I reached the altar, taking his hand as he helped me up the steps. "You look beautiful," he whispered, pecking my cheek.
I blushed, smiling softly at him as I replied, "You look so handsome." He winked in response, holding my hand as we stood before the priest. And thus, the ceremony had begun.
Niall's hand began sweating as the priest spoke to the crowd, reading out his speech. I could tell he was nervous, so I gently began rubbing my thumb over his knuckles. I watched him smile out of the corner of my eye, his hand squeezing mine as a thank you. The priest turned to Niall, reading out, "Niall James Horan, do you take Veronica Renee Carter to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, through sickness and in health, for rich or for poor, as long as you both shall live, till death do you part?"
I watched nervously as he sighed, a far off look in his eyes. "I do," he smiled, taking both my hands in his and looking at me straight on.
"And do you, Veronica Renee Carter, take Niall James Horan to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, through sickness and in health, for rich or for poor, as long as you both shall live, till death do you part?"
