Pov Karkat
I look outside the window, slightly anxious. I watch as clouds slowly move throughout the sky forming different shapes and figures.
I bite my lip slightly as I look down at my wrist once again seeing the same number that was there five minutes ago.

Today's the day. I'm supposed to meet them. My soulmate. The person who was made to complete me. I sigh slightly.
For all I know we could be a thousand worlds apart... that's what it feels like. Not knowing what they're like... who they are... anything. It just- scares me. What if I mess up when we first meet... what if I'm not perfect enough...
I'm currently 17 years old and a senior in high school. Seeing this number change on my wrist was what gave me strength to keep going.
I thought of the people around me and all my friends. Most of them had found their soulmate throughout high school. I remember how excited they were the day it was on its final countdown.
The only thing I can imagine is my soulmate not liking me... There's a lot not to entirely like.
Examples being: I do cuss a bit when I get upset, I have a short temper, and I guess I can be slightly annoying.
Other than that I'm just a short ass troll, with black short hair, freckles, and grey skin.
My thoughts are suddenly interrupted when I hear my older brother kankri call my name.
"Karkat. Could you please do me a favor?"
I roll my eyes before turning my attention to him.
"Which would be?"
"I just need you to run to the store pick up some things. Maybe while you're out you could also take the mayor on a walk through the park" (oh snap that's right I just made the mayor a doggo)
I sigh slightly before standing up and kankri hands me a list.
"This isn't an inconvenience is it? You don't have to if you don't want to brother. It's ok I understand. I can just run out later and take care of everything. I would understand-"
"Sheesh Kankri calm the fuck down it's really not that big of a deal."
"Uh- language- nevermind. Thank you Karkat."
I nod as Kankri walks away back into the kitchen before going to throw my black converse on.
I also put on a jacket over my shirt knowing it was slightly chilly outside. After gathering a few more things I tell Kankri I'm heading out, grab our smol doggo, and head out the door.
The mayor walks quickly at an excited pace. He knows this as retiene because we do this daily. Normally Kankri will take him out for walks but I know he's really busy lately.
I look around with a small smile as I view the beautiful green trees and look up at the blue sky filled with white fluffy clouds. I feel the light breeze brush against my jacket and I give off a small shiver.
I take in the beauty around me... In these few moments I let myself realize that everything is ok. I have no reason to be scared or so filled with anxiety. Today may be so big and important but I know no matter what they're going to love me... and I'm going to love them. We were made for each other...
So many questions have always filled my head about my soulmate ever since I was young.
Are they a troll? What do they look like? Are they human? What are their hobbies? What kind of things do they take interest in? Along with so many more.
I've always thought I was so ready for this but now the day has come and I feel so unprepared. Let's just hope I don't say anything stupid in the heat of the moment.
The mayor suddenly snaps me out of my thoughts as he pulls me forward running into the grass that leads to the dog park.
"Oh well. We got here quickly."
(Tf is this wattpad just deleted a huge section of my story and won't let me add it back. UgH. It's a sign lol the app is trying to tell me to give up because my writing is trash.)
I look around at all the dogs playing with their owners or other animals and I smile slightly.
The mayor pulls at his leash and I reach down uncoupling his leash watching him run out to join the other dogs.
I go to sit on a nearby bench and let our a deep breath.
All of a sudden a wave of every emotion I've ever felt runs through my body and I start to feel extremely overwhelmed.
Part of me wanted to think it was anxiety or maybe a panic attack... but this sure didn't feel like other times...
I hold onto my chest slightly as I look up to check on the mayor and I see him messing around with another human in the distance.
I stand up and prepare myself to walk over and make sure he isn't causing any trouble before this feelings grows ten times stronger.
What the fuck is happening. Just push past the pain Karkat. I'm sure it's nothing.
I shake my head slightly and continue to walk forward calling out my dogs name.
He turns his head to look at me before I finish walking over and he jumps up giving me huge kisses.
"Hey boy don't disappear on me like that."
I pet his head before looking up at the stranger to see he's wearing a pair of dark shades covering his eyes completely, blonde- short and fluffy hair, a red sweatshirt with a broken record in the middle, a pair of dark blue jeans, and some red converse.
I stand back up and return the leash back onto the mayor's collar as he tries to return to the stranger.
This weirded me out slightly because the mayor has never been one to approach and be so kind to strangers like this.
I look up to the man before my wrist gets this weird feeling and I lift up my sleeve looking down extremely confused suddenly feeling as if I could throw up.
Before I knew it the number that was once sitting on my wrist as it was many years before just... disappeared
I look around confused before a gasp escapes my mouth and I look back up and I feel the man making eye contact with me too even through his shades.
"Hello soulmate"
I feel a dorky smile approach my face when I hear these words leave his mouth.
"Oh gosh- damn- uh fuck... we're soulmates... Hello- Nice to meet you... Karkat Vantas... This little guy is the mayor my smol doggo."
"Ah he's a cutie... But not as cute as you... Name's Dave, Dave Strider. I've been waiting to meet you..."
I blush slightly before smiling again.
"Same here... I've been so excited- yet nervous and kinda terrified about today. Gosh um I have no clue what to say ha-"
Dave gives off a small laugh causing my heart to beat faster.
"Well... If you wanted maybe... You and I could go get something to eat, take this little guy with us. Get to know eachother a bit- exchange numbers- All the romantic things"
I nod slightly before my hands tighten on the leash.
"That sounds- amazing- I would love that. Did you come here with an animal?"
"No, I came to chill at the park for awhile get some things off my mind maybe play with some dogs. Just the usual. But yea- I wasn't expecting to meet you like this either ha- I just saw your dog approach me and started messin around a bit- playing catch, etc"
After a few more minutes of talking we decide where we would maybe want to go eat and talk a bit before the two of us head off together.
Man... Am I going to have to thank Kankri for letting me walk the mayor.
