Bridget's POV

Well we all leave for college in about two and a half weeks and it is really nerve wracking. I just got back from vacation with my family. We went to my Uncle's Beach house for a couple days. I've missed Sam a lot though and I am excited to see him. We have been going out for seven months now and everything has been going great.
My doorbell rang and it was Jenny.
"Hey bestfriend I have missed you." she said giving me a hug
"Hey bff. What's up?" I asked her as we both plopped down on the couch
"Nothing much. JJ threw this great party last night." she said smiling
"Did Sam behave himself?" I asked laughing
"Well he did get really drunk but Gilinsky took care of him. He was talking to that Claudia girl a lot too." she said shrugging
"I get a bad vibe about her and I have no clue why." I said shaking my head
"Hm maybe because she dresses like a slut. Now come on I want to pick out your outfit for your date with Sammy because I have a date with Lule tonight too." she said grabbing my hand and pulling me upstairs
I am wearing short black shorts, brown belt, a white flowy, dressy shirt tucked into my shorts, and cheetah patterned flats. I put my hair into a messy side braid because it is hot outside. I applied some foundation, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, and lip gloss. I just want to look good for Sam. I grabbed my brown purse and took one final look in the mirror.
"You look hot. Now go have fun with your boyfriend." Jenny said giving me a sidehug
"I know we havn't hung out this summer as much as we used to, but I am glad you are my best friend." I said hugging her back
"I'm going to miss you when we leave in a couple weeks." she said smiling sadly
"But we will talk to eachother everyday." I said sticking out my pinky. This has always been our thing to make a pinky promise.
"Now go have fun on your date please. Call me tomorrow." she said as we walked out the door
"I will and have fun on your date too." I said waving as I got into my car and she got into hers. I drove over to Sam's house and rang the doorbell. He answered smiling wide. He was wearing black shorts, sperrys, a light blue button up top, and his watch. His hair was in it;s normal fashion.
"I've missed you so much!" he said picking me up and hugging me
"I know I have missed you too. Ready for dinner?" I asked pecking his lips. He smiled and nodded and we got into his car. Normall when we are in the car he always puts his hand on my knee and smiles. He didn't do that today.
He isn't even holding my hand as we walk into the pizza place. Did I do something wrong?" I thought as we sat down at our booth.
"So how was vacation?" he asked after we ordered our food
"It was good. It was nice spending time with family." I said smiling
"Yeah you look really tan though." he said smirking
"Well I got burned first. Did you do anything fun while I was away?" I asked taking a sip of my soda
"Eh nothing much. I swam in Mike's pool a lot and made vines with Gilinsky and Johnson." he said shrugging
"Jenny was over today and she said JJ had a party last night, didn't you go?" I asked playing dumb
"Oh yeah I did. I got a little too drunk though thats why I didn't want to tell you about the party." he said sheepishly
"Oh well don't be embarrassed. I mean nothing did happen at the party right?" I asked. I saw him stiffen up but than relax. I decided on letting that go and just trying to enjoy the rest of the date.
We are now back at Sam's house watching Remember the Titans. We always cuddle when we watch movies but today he is sitting really far away from me. The movie ended and Sam got up to turn it off.
"Do you want to watch another one?" he asked looking up at me
"No I have a question though. Did I do something wrong?" I asked looking at him. He turned the tv off and sat down next to me on the couch.
"Of course not why are you asking me that?" he asked confused
"Because you have been really distant tonight. You have barely touched me at all. You are acting like I have some disease or something." I said to him
He sighed and looked up at me. "You didn't do anything wrong Bridget, I did." he said looking at me with regret in his eyes
"What did you do?" I asked not sure if I am ready to hear the answer
"Like I said last night at the party I got really drunk. Gilinsky was trying to control me but I just pushed him away. I was talking to Claudia a lot and something happened." he said his voice breaking at the end. Tears brimmed his eyes.
"What happened?" I asked staring at him
"I hooked up with her." he whispered so low but I could hear it. We both just sat there in silence for a while not saying anything.
"Bridget please say something. It ment nothing I was drunk-" but I cut him off
"Drunken actions always mean something Sam. I trusted you! I can't believe you would do this to me!" I said getting up and putting my shoes on and grabbing my purse
"I didn't mean to it ust happened! I don't love her I love you." he said grabbing my arm. I turned around and slapped him hard across the face.
'If you really loved me you wouldn't have cheated on me. What happened to oh I will never hurt you Bridget. I will always protect you." I said mocking him going up the stairs to his front door
"I didn't know what I was doing. It just happened ok? I can't loose you though. You are the best thing that ever happened to me!" he exclaimed grabbing my hand
"Well you should of thought of that sooner before you went and cheated. When you cheated you made a choice and you broke us. You made a choice and you lost me. So congratulations I hope you are happy." I said rolling my eyes and walking out the door to my car
"I'm not happy. I'm miserable. I couldn't sleep all last night knowing what I did to you." he said slamming my car door shut
"Well that's your own fault than! You knew damn well what you were doing. You knew damn well who you were breaking when you cheated. We are done Sam I mean it. Don't call me, talk to me, nothing. We are over or good." I said getting in my car but he stopped the door with his foot
"Come on Bridget we can get through this. I need you. Hell I still love you." he said looking at me
"No you don't. Playing with someone's heart just shows there is nothing in yours. Go fuck yourself Sammy." I said slamming the door and speeding off. I drove as fast as I could to my house and parked it once I got in the driveway. I started breaking down crying. How could he do this to me? What did I ever do to him? Than a thought popped into my head from one of my favorite authors.
Cheating on a girl is deeper than people realize. It destroys her outlook on love, her future relationships, and her peace within herself.
