Thalia
I walk out of the car and round it to pull Milo out of the passenger's side. He still didn't tell anyone about the cancer. All our friends know are as much as his sisters know. That he had his chest opened and everything is "fine". Stupid ass word.
So when Dash's grandma called ya and told us that we HAVE to be here for Dash's grandpa's birthday party, there was no reason to say no.
Even though Dash and I are grown and moved out, my parents still live on one part of the two family home while his grandparents live on the other. I don't know why they never moved out but it's still nice to have your childhood home around.
"Milo, I know for a fact that you don't need all of my help to stand up why are you leaning on me so much?" I say, trying to pull all of his body weight up.
"Thalia, they opened up my damn chest!" I give him a look and he sighs as he stands up on his own.
"I'm just so lazy."
"Milo!" I spin around to see my mother run into Milo's arms and I cringe for him. His poor chest.
"Hey Brenda!" He coughs out and she pulls away and punches both of his cheeks.
"Aw, you're more handsome then the last time I saw you. C'mon I made a casserole just for you."
"Love you too Mom." I pipe up and she laughs and pulls me into a big hug.
"My beautiful Thalia, you can have some of the casserole after Milo takes what he wants. Let's go kids, you're the last two to arrive."
Walking through the front door I hear Dash's grandpa sigh. "Finally. Where's my gift?"
"Fernando!" His wife screams and slaps the back of his head then the back of Dash's head when he starts laughing at his grandma.
I try to hold back my giggles as I hand the man his present and get engulfed in a huge hug by Dash's grandma.
"My little Thalia, so beautiful. Breaks my heart everyday that Dash didn't end up marrying you."
"Still gay, Abuela!" Dash sings as he walks into the kitchen to grab the food from the kitchen.
"Then pick a man Dexter! Leopold and Milo are right here!" She screams at him and looks at me shaking her head. "If he doesn't pick a man that looks half as pretty as you I'll be very upset." She pats my cheek and turns to Milo and engulfs him in a hug just as big as the one she gave me.
"Milo, why don't you like boys? C'mon Dexter's good looking enough for you."
Dash walks in with a few dishes in his hands and hands them to me to put on the table and walks over to his grandma and pulls her off of Milo.
"That's enough wine for you Abuela. Let's get some food in that system."
We all sit around the table and laugh at different stories we share from high school and college. Well the stories that we CAN tell with my parents and Dash's grandparents sitting in the room with us and eventually we all sing to Fernando with a beautiful cake that his wife made.
"Dexter! Straighten your tie!" His grandma screams as they pose for a picture.
"Abuela, I still don't get why I'm the only one wearing a tie."
