Melody's POV
I woke up, back in the lounging house, laying on my bed. For a second, it felt good to be back. Then I remembered the circumstances. For the first time in over five years, I saw my father's face. If that's not frightening enough, he's within a mile and a half of my doorstep. I finally opened my eyes to see Crutchie, Anthony, Jack, Specs, and almost everyone else crowded around my bunk. I think I also saw Spot somewhere in the back.
They all looked at me, expecting me to say something.
"Guys?"
Everything after that was a blur. I can pick out Crutchie hugging me like he'll never let go, Anthony scolding me for giving him a heart attack, and Jack sighing and shaking his head. That was when I remembered.
"Crap! I was supposed to meet back at Kath's apartment." I thought aloud.
"Katherine stopped by 15 minutes ago. Everything's fine." I heard someone say.
Except it wasn't.
"What am I going to do now?" I whispered to myself. Then I had an idea. "Anthony, do you remember the one place Father was always scared to death of?"
He nodded.
"Brooklyn." We said in unison.
Time Skip (zoooooooooom)
It was an hour later. I was getting settled into the Brooklyn lounging house. We had made a stop at Katherine's to get my stuff back, too.
"Listen, youse don't want to be selling on the streets of Brooklyn. Stay on this street during the day, there's plenty of us newsboys around to protect ya."
I nodded and continued unpacking. Soon I took off my shoes and attempted to get some sleep.
For a while, I just lay in bed, thinking about things. I thought about Crutchie and Anthony and Katherine and Jack and everyone else.
Mostly Crutchie though.
***
The next day after getting ready, and promising Spot I wouldn't stray to far away, I decided to explore.
Lucky for me, there happened to be a library less than a block away. I spent the entire afternoon in their, reading. I can't even remember the last time I was in a library. At least I won't be completely bored during my time in Brooklyn. But who knows how long my stay will be?Wasssup!! I know, I know, I've been bad. But know that schools out for summer I'll hopefully post a lot more. Sorry for the short chapter. Please comment and don't forget to vote!
