Superhero

 Ross climbed in the driver’s side and we began driving to where ever Ross was taking me next. We pulled up into a small parking lot hidden by trees. It was dark and sort of creepy, but I wasn’t scared. Not with Ross with me. Ross took my hand and led me past some trees and down into the woods further. Through the trees ahead of us I could see the moon shining down. It was a beautiful night, very clear and warm.

“ready?” he smiled at me as he turned and stopped in front of me.

“yeah.” I smiled back.

“don’t worry. I’m sure you’ll love it.” Ross took my hand again and pulled me out of the trees. I looked around and found Ross and I to be standing on a small hidden beach. The sand was almost white as snow and the ocean water was clear and blue. The moon was large and shined down on the water perfectly, glimmering off of it like the sun would a mirror. Close to the right hand side of the beach were some large boulders. The largest one in the middle was flat and the other two surrounding it were jagged ovals. It was beautiful. I squeezed Ross’ hand and smiled.

“Ross this is… amazing. It’s so beautiful. How did you find it?” I laughed and let go of his hand. I twirled around in the sand and looked up at the stars shining brightly above us.

“well… you had your hidden place… I have mine.” He chuckled.

“oh my gosh it’s so cool.” I giggled. “how long have you known about it? And like… have been coming here?” I asked looking out past the calm water.

“since I was thirteen.” He told me. I walked over to him and wrapped my arms around his waist. He laughed and hugged me tightly. “I thought I would share it with you since I kind of found your spot…” he said.

“thank you.” I softly said looking into his perfect, pure hazel eyes.

“anything for you.” He half smiled and kissed my forehead. He entwined his fingers with mine and walked me over to that flat rock. He climbed up on it and reached behind it, pulling out his guitar. “come sit.” He told me and patted up on the rock. I jumped up and sat beside him and smiled. “I… I uh was up a lot last night… I could barely sleep, but I kept thinking about us. I thought about everything we have been through together. I thought about how I almost lost you… a couple times… and how a while ago… well I don’t know if you remember or not… but you kept trying to act strong around me and act like nothing was bothering you which I knew there was. I knew how depressed you were and insecure… I wanted to change that, I have always wanted too… I want to be able to make you smile and see you smile every day. Your smile is perfect. I know how every time we were finally happy… you were finally happy; something or someone would come and ruin it. I hated that, I tried to push all that away from you but it never seem to work. I always tried to save you… and for some reason… whenever you needed me the most… I was never there… Skylar please forgive me for that. Last night while I was up thinking about all of this I wrote a song… I want to sing it to you.”

“don’t be sorry Ross. I would love to hear it.” I reassured him with a smile.

“okay… it’s called…” he took a deep breath. “ Superhero.” I nodded and watched as he began to strum a beautiful beat.

“Ross…” I had tears in my eyes.

“Skylar I love you.” I was blown away… I didn’t know what to say to him. Superhero…

“Ross…” I said again pulling him closer to me.
