I turned on the radio in the car on my way to “Phille Cafe” where I worked today. I've never understood why it's spelled “Phille”.. I mean that's kind of a weird spelling isn't it? “Phille”.. Hmm.
On the radio played one of my favourite bands of all time, Green Day, with the song American Idiot. I'm not sure why but it always gets me on a good mood. Turning up the volume, I started to rock out to the song, doing the drumming, guitar and singing at the same time whilst driving safely is a task of it's own. But I arrived at the cafe safe and sound, all though I was a little out of breath.. weirdly enough.
Phille Cafe is a small and popular cafe a little outside of centrum. It had old wooden chairs and tables, with a small counter at the front with a cash register. On the side of the counter is another counter with glass on the front so the guests could see what's there. We had different sorts of cakes, cookies and baguette and sandwiches. Also some more real food like lasagne or.. soup. Drinks was all the usual, fizzy drinks, different kinds of coffee and all of that.
“Hey, in time as usually I see.” David, my boss said with a smile.
David is one of those people who just can make anyone happy just by being in the room. He's just very.. charismatic and charming I think are the words I'm looking for. He's a tall man around his mid thirties, long brown hair, deep brown hair and usually with some stubble on his chin. His clothing styles is what I call – homeless on purpose – which basically mean that he dresses like you could imagine a homeless would dress. Maybe a little more posh tho. Like a posh homeless. That didn't make any sense didi it? Oh well..
“Haha it sounds like you want me to be late?” I said to him with a small smile.
“Nah, not late but you're always so.. punctual. It's almost a little annoying really.” He said back, laughing a little.
“Oh okey.. I'll come an hour late tomorrow then?”
“No you won't.” David said back, serious. But I knew he didn't say it because he's my boss, but because he knows I could never do that.
I walked past him behind the counter to go into the small room a little further in and change into the black t-shirt we have to wear with – Phille Cafe – written on it and my black apron. I took a quick look in the mirror and put my hair up in a ponytail, which also is something we have to do so there won't be any hair in the guests food or drinks. It also makes us more effective I think.
I took a wet dishcloth and started to clean the counters and tables in the cafe. There wasn't anyone here yet, most usually come around four pm and it's only three thirty pm. David had put on some music, I think it's Song Bird by Fleetwood Mac. He's got good music taste.
“Long time no see..” I heard a very familiar voice say.
I turned around there stood non other than Bones himself. I hadn't seen him since the last time Sam beaten me up, the same day Pete and I met.
“Oh my god! Hiii, how are you?” I rambled embracing him in a tight hug.
“Oh you know.. things.” He said with a smile and a little wink.
“Haha oh that's it huh?” I said playfully, sitting down on one of the chairs at a table, Bones did the same.
“Yeah.. So how are you feeling, hun?” he asked me with a soft voice.
Bones has always been the caring and also the only nice on out of Sam's gang..
“I wish people would stop asking me that..” I said with a sigh.
There's a little pause with him just looking at me. Studying me really.
“So not that good huh?” He softly asked.
